@MacGuffin No I'm attributing an opinion from you I've gathered from multiple ramblings done by you.
You are the one that tarnished this solider as killing civilians with no other evidence then he is a US soldier. You remind me of this girl I know Yara, very patronising and means well but a bit of an idiot. There was the time she was lambasting the entire police force (despite never experiencing any racism herself) until someone stepped up stating his father isn't racist or part of any of the stigma. Then again talking about soldiers killing babies and civilians until my friend who'd just come back from a tour kindly explained what he'd been doing and how he hadn't been involved in any crap like that.
You even have taken offence yourself for being tarred with same brush as the British government with IRA and Mau Mau. Same thing you do to others. As long as you presume every soldier is killing Afghans as a day job people will call you up on it. Live with it or think be |

I was eight years old when the hunger strikes took place, and the Mau Mau rebellion happened thirty years before I was even born, dickhead. I took part in and am responsible for neither. And unlike you, I'm not so wrapped up in jingoism and misplaced patriotism that I'm incapable of criticising my country's actions in both. Have a look at the links I've submitted to IAB, and you'll see there's one in there where I criticise the actions of the British government in torturing civilians during the Mau Mau uprising.
If only more Americans were as willing as me to criticise their own government and country's misdeeds you'd sound less like the bunch of pathetic hypocrites you do. |

I do however think you're on the right tracks with your thoughts of the military OldOllie, but which is going to be greater for someone in the military? Their loyalty to the oath for country, or their loyalty to friends and family who may be from a state they are asked to fight against? Which is what happens during a lot of civil conflicts....a lot of the professional military decide to hoof it to side with family members who are on the wrong side of the divide. |

Of which only a small percentage have any military or tactical training and even though they like to think a day paintballing and playing CoD makes them Rambo personified, the reality is most gun owners couldn't hit a barn door if they were holding the handle.....just because you own something doesn't make you useful with it. I own a set of golf clubs and have for years, even with practice I'm still poo. |

Most of the military and police will side with the Red states because they are overwhelming Republicans who will honor their oaths go support and defend the constitution, not the statist thug who happens to be living in the White House. They will be supported by the overwhelming majority of gun owners who are also Republicans. Non-American NATO "allies" and the UN will be among the diaper$#!++ers. |
