Friday, January 04, 2013 11:27:22 PM @paperduck: My mother is dead, so I'd probably take it worse than if she were alive. If we don't know what the insult is, or what the crowd was chanting, then how do we know what went down here? |

Friday, January 04, 2013 9:03:38 PM "Did anybody understand the language the announcer was speaking?" - The announcer is just, well... announcing...\ El Shaarawy (the announcer calls him Elsha) wasn't even the guy who got angry.

Friday, January 04, 2013 4:51:12 PM Auburnjunkey: not quite sure where you're headed... it wasn't a perceived insult, it was intentional. Its one thing to hear "you suck" and another to hear insults unrelated to your play or the game. are you suggesting people need to change their natural tendency and not get affected by insults hurled at them? Let's say someone curses out your mom at your job, you would be completely unphased? |

Friday, January 04, 2013 2:57:17 PM auburn - are you referring to what the announcer was saying? because I doubt that was being broadcast onto the field and I doubt that's what caused the anger. we couldn't hear what the fans were chanting. Did anybody understand the language the announcer was speaking? |

Friday, January 04, 2013 2:06:34 PM In many parts of Europe football crews are a part of organised and mostly right wing nationalist violent politics. In some places it's worse than others, but it is prevelent.

Friday, January 04, 2013 1:44:48 PM I'm not saying it's this bad in the English Premier league, but it happens. Very rarely. But the press are quickly to release pictures/videos of the perpetrator, and most fans will report racist behaviour. Italy on the other hand is a very different thing. Black players are constantly racially abused. Same in Spain, they regularly "black up" to taunt fans. Soem Spanish Formula 1 fans "blacked up" to abuse Lewis Hamilton. |

Friday, January 04, 2013 1:34:10 PM Is this why soccer is as popular as it is in the States? Oh, and knowing this, I would probably not put a professional soccer team in the South Carolina / Georgia area of the country. Just sayin. |

Friday, January 04, 2013 12:15:38 PM It's almost as bad as when Americans allow grown men to shoot unarmed black teenagers in the head. But not quite. |

Friday, January 04, 2013 12:11:46 PM Wait a second. They were saying Aisha! Aisha! like the 9 year old wife of Muhammad Aisha? Hmmm. Not racist. Religion-ist. Do you think Christians would quit anything if the crowd chanted Magdaline! Magdaline!? Sour grapes, and ashamed of his religion. |
