Wednesday, January 02, 2013 7:27:30 PM I actually found this informative- past the common sense stuff. For example, I didn't know that the first cops/responders in the building wouldn't help. It makes complete sense thinking about it after seeing it, but I can't be sure I would have thought about it in the situation. Basically, I learned to sit quietly hidden until they instruct. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 7:26:25 PM "Markust, if you work someplace where the only factor preventing a coworker from killing you is the lack of a loaded gun, you should quit making iPhones and leave China." Close. I do work in the tech industry. And in the tech industry you have a larger portion than normal of adults who were picked on and traumatized to no end in high school. And a portion of those are going to be unstable. I'm actually surprised the tech industry hasn't seen more acts of employees going postal. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 6:56:37 PM Damn Alabama - that was well-produced. Engaging compared to even a commercially sponsored, dramatized depiction. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 6:19:39 PM Good thing the shooter is always an obviously threatening looking man in black. They lose the true confusion and chaos of this sort of situation in the theatrics. The shooter will look like anyone else. If you can't immediately see the gun, you may not be able to tell who it is. If you hear loud bangs somewhere in the building, your first thought will be that someone or something fell, not that there's a shooting. That's the reason these situations are so dangerous. It's the uncertainty. Knowing what to do in a shooter situation won't help you if you don't know you're in a shooter situation until it's too late. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 6:04:04 PM "If I was allowed a gun at work I wouldn't HAVE to improvise now would I?" I couldn't imagine working anywhere that guns are allowed. Emotions can run too high at work. It is not a safe environment for easy access to guns. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 6:03:59 PM There is a little pistol with the international-no sign around it. The shooter must not have seen it. He had a fully automatic AK-47, so it didn't apply to him. Otherwise he would have gone across the street where they don't have so many gun restrictions. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 5:45:16 PM I especially liked how at 1:25, on the door, it has a sign indicating a gun-free zone. There is a little pistol with the international-no sign around it. The shooter must not have seen it. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 5:42:55 PM If I was allowed a gun at work I wouldn't HAVE to improvise now would I? Because you are completely incompetent(as everyone who picks up a gun except for police and insane mass shooters is), you might accidentally shoot someone while trying to stop the person about to murder 20 of your co-workers. You might also get shot yourself trying to get your gun out, so you should run at the insane man with a stapler in your hand, that will be safer for everyone. |

Wednesday, January 02, 2013 3:20:08 PM Link: Alabama Dept. Of Homeland's Security Safety Video [Rate Link] - The safety video is about how to react to a mass-shooting attack. Throw in 250-300 N-bombs and it's a Tarantino movie. |
