Thanks. Most people have no idea how to handle ice or judge thickness. Not only could that guy (probably) not swim, but the slippery ice was bent down under the water preventing him from getting anywhere near the rescuers. I grew up in Wisconsin, and I know how dangerous ice can be.
He's just lucky he didn't fall through a solid portion, only to have it realign over him. They wouldn't have found him until spring.... |

You can do lifeguard training in open water in the UK when it is cold - main thing to learn: don't go in the water, you loose all sense of direction in a matter of seconds even when you are a strong swimmer. |

I don't think he knew how to swim. This happened here in Southern California, so I think everyone needs to put the racial slurs away and realize that most of these people have never seen a frozen lake. |
