Monday, December 24, 2012 6:26:46 PM Anyone can plan anything. It doesn't make it plausible. Human settlements on Mars aren't really viable until travel from Earth to Mars is simple enough for resupply trips to be routine stuff, not all that much more of a thing than home delivery from a supermarket. When a settlement is utterly dependent on regular and frequent resupply, that resupply has to be routine. Otherwise you may as well just kill them before they leave and save the money, because they're going to die anyway. And if it does work and their descendents do at some point somehow become self-supporting, they'll just revolt and declare independence anyway, so you'll have lost all the resources you spent establishing the colony. Bloody colonists! :) |

Monday, December 24, 2012 10:17:50 AM Oh please. We haven't allowed our leaders to suck the life out of this planet yet so there's clearly no rush to start on another one. |

Monday, December 24, 2012 1:43:15 AM Dead-Kittens: why do I get the feeling this is backed by some oddball religious organization? We better send Doom guy along with them. |

I'm with them all the way....until they get there. They can't sustain life on that planet. Only rocks as building materials. No metals, no plants.... no AIR. They'd go there just to die slowly unless regular supplies are sent from Earth. If they can get it self sufficient, great. If not, nope. |

Sunday, December 23, 2012 2:25:29 PM On second thought if the 4 man crew consists of myself, Kate Beckingsale, Sporty Spice and Ariane (the UFC ring girl) I might be ok with going. |

Sunday, December 23, 2012 2:02:51 PM sounds like a terrible idea. the worst part was that the people who go there can never return. who will sign up for that and be sane engough to accept it once they're on that rocket over. |

Sunday, December 23, 2012 1:13:47 PM Well this is something I totally agree with. But those things look depressingly small. I'm sure at the end of the day it would be lovely to have your own room..but that's all they have. Every place needs a rec room. |

Sunday, December 23, 2012 12:46:43 PM Somehow I have my doubts about this, the company, the plan, and the methods used... 1 year of space travel and the astronauts are expected to live out their lives inside a tent barely larger than your average house (as scaled by the guy standing beside it).... why do I get the feeling this is backed by some oddball religious organization? |

Sunday, December 23, 2012 12:13:47 PM Repost. And ill repeat what i said the last time this was posted. They cant even build a semi decent habitat/settlement in orbit around the earth, or on the moon. WHat makes them think they will be able to do ANYTHING associated with mars. Seriously, i think the recent mars rover crap has gone to everyones heads. |
