A great example is a few years back, when I used Facebook, I was one of 10 people in charge of our high school reunion.
Messages I sent to people who were not on my friends list and did not have a network selected (like me) would have cost me $1.00 each.
Not saying everyone would have a situation pop up like mine, but I can think of a few other scenarios where people would want to send out messages like that. Not all are spammers.
But Facebook is charging for SOME messages to be sent... Silly me for leaving out that keyword "some"--- oh wait, I didn't |

Seems like HalfPintRoo didn't bother reading the article and just posted it.
This is a charge to send mail to out-of-network individuals. This has nothing to do with the vast majority of normal Facebook users.
Might help to read for context. |

It's a totally voluntary thing that won't affect 99.9% of users who would never have a reason to send a private message to users they aren't friends with. And the .1% are spammers who deserve to be singled out and penalized. So, um......what was your point again? |

If they split the money with the people getting the spam messages, it wouldn't be a bad idea...except for the fact that being on Facebook is a bad idea in the first place. |
