Friday, December 21, 2012 6:04:06 AM @cracker bull. Id be stunned if a baldie can lift more than 4kg. Any eagle locked into an 8kg sockeye better be able to swim... Phillipine has probably the best lifting capacity of any eagle. Most of its diet are flying lemurs. They do tackle monkeys but its a high risk affair, and again, they kill, and mantle, not snatch. |

Thursday, December 20, 2012 6:09:38 AM MattPrince: I've seen Bald Eagles carry off 20lb+ fish right out of the river. A 1-2 month old baby wouldn't be impossible. Rabbits, Cats, Small Dogs, Snakes and such aren't safe from Eagles. Philippine Eagles kill and carry off monkeys. So it is possible, although not probable. |

Thursday, December 20, 2012 5:08:22 AM A golden eagle wouldn't carry off a new born infant and they don't carry lambs off either. Its just not their modus operandi. They bring *down* small antelopes and young deer, they don't carry them off. Goldies average not much heavier than a human new-born ~ about 5.5~11 lb. There is some absolute rubbish about how much a golden eagle can carry ~ probably put about by boastful falconers - I had one tell me his gyrfalcon was faster than a 'grin in a stoop the other day.. A newborn human might just be liftable ~ but not a toddler, and not like this. Gerry1of1 you should know better, taken in by a pair of French Students :)

Wednesday, December 19, 2012 9:19:42 PM A Golden Eagle could conceivably carry off a new born infant. But such was not the case here, this was a student film project. Well done though, it really did seem real. |

I'm gonna say real. It dropped the kid 'cause he was too heavy. Must've mistaken Elmo hat for a smaller critter. Eagles snatch up lambs which are about the size of that baby. |

Wednesday, December 19, 2012 9:55:23 AM Fake. For a number of reasons. The bird just doesn't fly right for a start. Goldies tend to take down their prey and mantle on it, rather than lifting it. If it did lift something that heavy then it would have to put a lot of deep downbeats to get it off the ground, rather than the shallow flicks ~ lazy cgi. A goldie goes to kill when it goes for small mammals ~ the talons would have messed that kids head up real good. Goldies tend to avoid humans ~ especially populated areas.

Wednesday, December 19, 2012 9:33:09 AM I so wanted this to be real but unless we have two suns this is fake. When the eagle is coming in all the shadows including his point to the left. But the shadows of the mom and all the rest of the people in the action point to the right. The Eagles shadow switches also. |
