I would totally agree with this assessment. However, I would also wager that none of you could tell the difference blindfolded.

However, even the cheapest crap over-the-ear headphones sound better than the best on-ear headphones or earbuds.

Grado, Joe Know's. I know they are goofy/dorky looking. Bose was the first Apple.

Hehe, i find this quite accurate actually.

TraeDay>> I don´t know a single DJ or producer that use Beats, and I know a bunch, HD25:s rock!

I AGREE. I have Technika headphones from Tesco. £20. BeatsByDre are for douchebags.

@ Concentra: I'm not sure the exact brand of the picture I posted but my pair looks similar and they are from Ultimate Ears and cost me about $15. Look here

I refuse to pay a stupid amount of money on something as ridiculous as headphones.

i bought a pair of $50 koss portapro headphones last year. they're ugly as sin, and made kinda cheaply, but they have it where it counts... they sound really nice. they trade blows with most headphones that are 2 or 3 times as expensive.

Bose: I'm using these ones just now to cut ambient noise in the place I'm presently working. I also bought some cheapy earphones that are noise cancelling for £20. Although the Bose phones are nice, there really isn't £250 worth of a difference between their efficacy and the £20 alternative. If they hadn't been tax-deductible anyway, I'd have taken them back.

I've started keeping the £20 earphones for cutting out noise on the train. Although I do get funny looks when I'm taking them out of my bag and putting them in, before stuffing the jack end in my pocket without connecting it to anything. Since most people use headphones for listening to stuff rather than purely for their noise cancelling effect, the other commuters must think I'm mad when I don't connect them to any device and just turn on the cancelling.
