Thursday, February 03, 2005 6:46:40 PM And LUKAST, that same site provides another whole link to breastfeeding with inverted nipples and how it is ABSOLUTLEY possible and should pose no threats. It will take time and work just like breastfeeding with normal breasts do but the benifits are endless. I had one mother in my daycare with inverted nipples who pumped her breasts for 6 months and bottle fed her baby breastmilk because she new it was the BEST. There is no such thing as a pro to formula feeding unless your baby is adopted or is allergic to your the mother's milk or is lactose intolerant. DO THE RESEARCH, I DID TO MAKE SURE MY STATEMENTS WERE FACTUAL. I do however sincerely apologize for the "lazy" remark... it was my opinion and it should not have been expressed. If a mother wants to breast feed and her baby isn't allergic/lactose intolerant/adopted there's NO reason she cannot breastfeed. (Not including tragedies like breast cancer/mastectomies) And BTW, Breastfeeding reduces your chances of Breast Cancer. |

Thursday, February 03, 2005 6:37:19 PM Dear SWEETPEACHY1 and LUKAST, please accept my sincerest apologies for my unthoughtful/unkind comment. I am obviously a huge advocate of breastfeeding. Research shows that women with fibrocystic breasts (NOT a disease) and Inverted nipples CAN SUCCESSFULLY nurse. Visit http: parenting.ivillage.com to read Debbie Donavan, IBCLC 's research. Re F-Cystic breasts it reads: "Fibrocystic breast disease affects almost one-half of women of childbearing age. As we age, our breast tissue becomes more dense and we may develop non-cancerous lumps or cysts, along with swelling, and tenderness or pain. Since so many women are affected, the American Cancer Society has recommended that health care providers use the term "fibrocystic changes," rather than continuing to designate it as a disease. This condition regresses during pregnancy. Breastfeeding delays the return of symptoms for some women. This condition should present no particular problem for you while breastfeeding." |

Thursday, February 03, 2005 4:32:58 PM MHHDAYCARE. That is complete boulderdash. Babies that are breastfed spit up as much as formula babies do, and there are pros and cons to both breast feeding and bottlefeeding. Some women simply can not breast feed because of a number of factors, like inverted nipples. Please dont try to post opinions as factual information. |

Thursday, February 03, 2005 3:59:56 PM well i have fibrocystic breast disease which makes it too painful to breast fed maybe you should think about what you said because breast feeding is easier because formula has to be prepared when as you breast feed you just have to pull your breast out and lach on the baby (instant formula)no offense but i dont like being called lazy. |
