Sunday, December 02, 2012 3:09:02 AM no self respecting legitimate web designer would apply. i don't believe theres a degree that only focuses on web design there is for programers and developers but its rare for web design. usually you have to study communication design or graphic design in order to become a web designer but web design is almost never a main focus. |

Friday, November 30, 2012 9:32:48 PM LOL I see the hire is also to be a night carpark attendant. Here's a tip: don't take student loans to spend four years studying to do something that can be done by sweatshop workers in Bangladesh. |

Friday, November 30, 2012 4:56:51 PM "But a decent web designer simply wouldn't apply..." That's what I'm saying. Back when I was doing websites, quite a few of my projects were taking over from another designer who didn't know what they were doing. I always told my client it was easier to start from scratch than to try to work with Johnny's table layout he made by exporting a design out of Photoshop (or ImageReady, remember that?). OR, a website made in India where they didn't even bother to delete the parts of the html that proved they just copied and pasted from another website. |

Everyone plus their mothers, believe they are computer geniuses. Web design is one of the most common fields being studied at crappy/expensive universities and online schools. Bottom line, web designers are a penny a dozen. Good luck finding a job with the same worthless degree everyone else has. |

Friday, November 30, 2012 1:38:24 PM @lauriloo - it's also very easy for someone with absolutely no idea about web design to tinker with a bit of HTML and get paid for it. I should know, I did it while I was younger, and got paid quite a bit for some crappy websites. But a decent web designer simply wouldn't apply... |

Friday, November 30, 2012 1:27:35 PM As someone in the design business and an ex-web designer, I can testify that most people have no idea what a designer should be paid. It doesn't help that someone will accept this pay rate and do a crap job at web design which leads to people like this thinking all web designers are crap. Vicious cycle. |
