"When the elites want you gone, they elicit the government to do their work for them, for free. They can invent whatever data they want, use whatever lie it takes, as a means to an end. "

@cajun, that's a pretty piss-poor retort. They are a 7 year old operation who've been cited for numerous environmental violation. Where did I lie?

..and whilst business should consider sustainability, it is often in their interest to clear up, make the money and move on. You should fly over Northen Canada, and see the scale of clear felling. No need to do a more sensitive mosaic if you can clear huge blocks in one go.

In the case of this Oyster farm though, I don't think its sharp practice, more like stupidity.

"It's like you assume that if things are privatized they'll go to Hell in a handbasket."

I assume that because it is true. Corporations do not have morality. People have morality. A corporations single solitary mission is to generate revenue. Without regulation corporations would do whatever they could to make as much money as possible.

Just look at what businesses did before regulations. Children worked in sweatshops. Employees had no rights. The environment got trashed.

The Sequoias are actually quite threatened right now. There's a terrible smog problem in King's Canyon.

HG: Our national parks survived just fine before the NPS was commissioned. The NPS is not the gleaming knight on a white horse that you're making them out to be. This is the same agency that's culled buffalo and wild horses on National Park land.

Why would any anyone want to deliberately design and plan their condos to trash such a lucrative tourist destination?

Conversely why would anyone do the same thing out of negligence? It's like you assume that if things are privatized they'll go to Hell in a handbasket.

In its short 7 year operations they have been cited multiple times for not operating in an environmentally sensitive fashion

Cited not convicted, the other govt agency came in and discovered the NPS's BS and now the NPS won't back down.

Or do you not care (and by extension are happy to recite a lie ? )

Look who's talking.

grand Canyon would be an amusement park

Not sure why anyone would want to do that.

the sequoias would have been chopped down

Contrary to popular belief paper mills do NOT thrive on clear cutting, in fact they wouldn't last a decade if they did that. Again, why would anyone want to destroy something that could provide boatloads in revenue?

1. This seems reasonably f.ucked from what I can see.

2. Calling the National Parks Service "enviroweenies" is just asinine. If it wasn't for them and similar agencies the grand Canyon would be an amusement park, the sequoias would have been chopped down, and yellowstone would be covered in resort condos.

@CrakrJak,There may or may not be some truth to the conspiracy theories. I'm well aware of them. I'm intelligent enough to keep tabs on things. However, I'm also intelligent enough to not buy into anything without proof. Either way, as I stated before, you'd get a lot further in your arguments if you nixed words like "Enviroweenies". Saying stuff like that make you instantly lose credibility. Provide me with a link, stating facts, and I always consider it with an open mind. Regardless of who it's from or which side of the political fence it falls on.

patchouly: Why don't you look at the story of the Villalobos rescue ranch in LA? The one featured on the TV show "Pit bulls and Parolees".

When the elites want you gone, they elicit the government to do their work for them, for free. They can invent whatever data they want, use whatever lie it takes, as a means to an end.

These days they use child safety, the environment, political correctness and such "causes" as the medium of control. If they get it wrong, they'll never be held responsible because you can't sue the government and win.

Apparently you've never been told just how deep the rabbit hole goes, how much the elites invisibly control not only our country but the whole damn world.

They started loosing control when Teddy Roosevelt started busting up the trusts, now they want it back through socialized oligarchy.

I don't really understand the issue here.

The company's current owners knew, when purchasing the company in 2004, that the lease would expire eight years later. They chose to listen to the advice of their attorneys that an extension could be negotiated and thus decided to take on the risk of that not happening.

Eight years later, it happened. The (current) NPS isn't swooping in and taking over the land from the current owners; this appears to have been in place since 1976. In total, the NPS has given a total of 36 years of lease to the owners of this company (not the current owners only - all previous owners).

So, what's the problem? They bet and lost. That's what happens in business.

Should really say 7 year old oyster company stupid enough to buy a short lease prevented from continued degredation of a marine wilderness, designated since 1976.

In its short 7 year operations they have been cited multiple times for not operating in an environmentally sensitive fashion. It is right for them to go.

Did you actually read the background before you jumped on the bandwagoon cracker? Or do you not care (and by extension are happy to recite a lie ? )

@CrakrJak, if you shared info without putting down the people you are trying to influence, you may get some better results.

I'm already stuck here with an established practice and 60 years old. If you're not already stuck in California, don't move here, don't try to establish anything, build anything or do anything except apply for welfare. That's the only thing one can do successfully here. Saying California is anti business is like saying Mother Theresa wasn't a good bet for nookie.

What they don't show is that they took over an oyster farm that was already under scrutiny, and repeatedly bent the rules by operating in areas that they weren't supposed to.

On the other hand, watch this place fill up with weekend resorts within the next 20 years

The people talking about enviroweenies and ecoterrorists and making statements implying that California is anti-business and all that are really not doing their side any favors. Makes you look just as bad as those you scorn, maybe even more petty and blind.

You know. I was watching this, and I was feeling sorry for them, hating the enviroterrorists, etc. etc....

Then, at 3:40, she mentioned that they were in California....

That explains everything. How dare they undertake a self improving enterprise in California! It's their own fault.

Basically what this amounts to, is the owner of the farm is trying to get his lease extended, eventhough he has acknowledged in the past that he knows congress in 1976 intended for areas to be managed as complete wilderness at the end of the period, gov't people have acted inappropriately IMO, as has the owner. Granted, i haven't spent hours looking into it or anything like that, but after reading an article in a NPS newsletter, it is pretty clear that this video has done a whole helluva lot of exaggerating of its own as well as conveniently leaving out a lot of information.

I too would lie to hear the other side. What agenda is being (allegedly) pursued? I would not deny that government agencies are often high-handed, power-happy and callous about their impact on small communities, but there seems to be no motive for he alleged shennanigans.

If you truly didn't care then why did you take the time to write a comment?

That's what I see anyways.
