You know, unless someone sick could use them, I wouldn't mind if they did this to my organs. just organs though. I don't want to be cut down the middle like i've seen them do to other bodies.. that's creepy

For some reason I really like this picture.
It makes me feel that one emotion. Happy, is it?

@DingDingDong "blah blah blah I hate China"

It doesn't look right, but it looks more 'heart-shaped' (pig) than trapezoid (human). If you ever studied transgenic transplantation you'd know the differences. I handled both pig and human hearts among others in college. I can't see the pulmonary veins or caval veins, so I can't be sure. The other major differences are present in structures that are dissolved away by the plastination process.

Upon further research, the (claimed) originator says it's porcine:

So, your presumption is neither kosher nor correct.

speaking of which someone needs to get a digitized model of this stuff on the net that can be rotated and zoomed

beternal~ close it's a process called plastination

and it's freaking awesome I started studying gross anatomy/physiology in college being interested in possibly becoming a medical illustrator or forensic artist, but switched majors soon after when I saw the potential coming up in cgi, which I was completely untalented in. Anyway, I would've loved to see this stuff around when I was trying to imagine individualized systems from differing angles so I could imagine that back onto a 2d surface :/

That heart is probably from a murdered political prisoner from China.
For real:

Simply amazing to be able to see a picture like this, no matter how it's done. Appreciate the beauty and wonder of the organ that keeps us alive !!

Beternal - thats exactly what they do. They inject resin into the blood vessel. The flesh either rots or can be dissolved.

Have a look at it done to a lung - I think the last I saw it with a lung was with cement, oddly.

This technique was my favorite part of the Bodies exhibit. They did it to a head and all the lacy blood vessels were just beautiful.

The heart is a muscle group. So stripping it of "muscle" leaves nothing.
Like looking at a liver after you strip away all the liver.

Anyone arty on here? - My guess is that's done by plastic injection of the blood vessels (red coloured plastic) and then digesting away the 'meat' with acid or enzymes?

Anyone care to provide details?! :)

Block off one of those tiny little veins, and you got yerself a heart attack. I betcha this is from the "Bodies" exhibit. If anyone ever gets the opportunity to go, I would recommend it. Kinda creepy, but very awesome.
