Tuesday, November 27, 2012 2:46:35 PM CrakrJak, same thing happened to my sister and I 6 years ago. Unfortunately, there were no eyewitnesses around and the guy got $40,000 in court settlement. Count your blessings. |

Tuesday, November 27, 2012 7:46:55 AM [prologue] Two years later I'd read in the paper that she had died while throwing herself in front of an oncoming car, right next to the local hospital. Some people never learn. |

Tuesday, November 27, 2012 7:44:54 AM I was backing into a parking spot one day, many years ago, and this lady ran behind my car and slapped my trunk lid. My passenger said, "WTF was that all about?!". She continued on to her old bread truck, that she and her husband were using as a vehicle. After I parked and started to get out of the car, she accused me of running her over. I said, "Lady you saw me backing up, ran behind my car and then slapped my trunk lid after I'd stopped the car." Thankfully there were other witnesses that seen her attempt at chicanery and after we were detained by store security and the police for half an hour, they realized she'd done this "trick" multiple times before to scam insurance money. They were going o let her off with a warning, but her husband got belligerent with the cops and she interfered with them trying to cuff him. So in the end, they both went to jail, had their bread truck towed and we were allowed to go on shopping. |

Monday, November 26, 2012 8:21:31 PM I don't know who would want to get run over for insurance money. Bounced off a hood maybe, but eesh. Looks like the pedestrian was having a heart attack or something and the driver didn't see that part, saw all the vertical bodies pass out of the way and went. |

Monday, November 26, 2012 4:45:08 PM oh well i'd say it's 99% this fault for just lying down like that, and 1% the driver's for not paying attention. |

Monday, November 26, 2012 4:10:34 PM Could have something to do with getting insurance money. When I was working for cable company before I became an electrician we had a safety briefing one morning about sh*t like this. At the time there were a suspicious amount of accidents involving work/utility trucks and poor/homeless people in and around NYC. They'd see a company truck and just f*cking jump in front of you so you'd hit them hoping there'd be no court case or investigation and the company would just settle and give them hush money. A week later I had one jump out as I was stopping at a light and he actually ran into my truck from the side and tried to play it off like I hit him but there were a sh*tload of witnesses so he took off running before the cops showed up. |
