Saturday, November 24, 2012 10:30:06 AM I do think there is a legitimate concern here, but I think it's overstated. Wars without any bloodshed would be better and having robots slug it out would be preferrable. On the other hand ot's only our current level of technology that prevents machines from comprehending morality and ethics, thus we should keep automated killing machines on a leash so-to-speak. it's OUR fault that our enemies don't wear uniforms and hide behind women and children? It's our fault when said innocents die. |

If you can distance yourself from the personal pain of war, you are more likely to wage war. On that logic, I would want them banned. The problem is we're the only ones who abay those rules of "modern warfare". The bad guys have no problem bombing civilians. |

Friday, November 23, 2012 9:22:27 AM Am sure they will be designed intelligent enough to differentiate between an ice cream & a gun. The people in the vid work with these issues closely if they are alarmed then there enough to rethink it. Govt. have to justify wars to their population mainly because of the body count. If there are no casualties and if covert operations could be Blamed on Robots; this could lead to apathy in people & a free hand at the killing in govs. If we choose to end a life for the cause then we must have, at a minimum, witness. BTW we won't allow an autonomous robot to serve us a coffee.

Friday, November 23, 2012 6:50:36 AM Fully autonomous killing machines have existed for a very long time, they are called land mines. The potential destruction to be unleashed by an aerial drone or sentry gun is minimal compared to the already in place destruction and loss of life caused by the use of land mines. Get some proportion and go after the big already in use killers before the future ones. |

Friday, November 23, 2012 6:47:26 AM I gotta say, I'm pretty sure we have computer programs now, that can tell the difference between someone pointing a weapon, or pointing ice cream- though I do admit ice cream can be an effective weapon when one is attempting to soothe an irritated spouse. Having said all that, I for one, think autonomous killer robots are a good thing, so long as they are confined to the District of Columbia, Virginia and Maryland areas, and programed to hunt corrupt politicians(Yes In know, that's all of them... Kinda my point). |

Friday, November 23, 2012 6:44:08 AM I don't like the idea. When the revolution comes, they'll use them against us and call it controlling domestic terrorism. |

Thursday, November 22, 2012 11:50:34 PM They're not against robots killing people, they're just against people killing people. Ultimately you won't get widespread use other then turrets and drones. A human soldier will always cost less then a robot one |
