Seems fairly reasonable, she's a human too, and can experience emotion. She is not your servant to make a show for you whenever you feel like it, she can do what she wants.

it's "Cuckoo", like the bird.

But I think this is just sweet, and human.

The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated
- Mohandas Gandhi

She shows great compassion for an animal that she obviously loves with all her heart. What's so koo koo about hat?

@ghetto... If you can get through all my typos, you'll notice that the humble opinion referred to the second sentence. Not the first. I agree, anybody can do what best works for them. I can respect that right to be slightly inadequate.

@burbclaver Your opinion is not too humble when you are saying you feel "superior" to those of differing opinions.

She did the right thing for her. I would do the same...

I feel superior to inadequate people who place the love of animals on equal terms with relationships people. INHO animals should be eaten or ignored. They shouldn't be imprisoned for our pleasure or anthropomorphized in ridiculous ways. We owe to animals to let them be animals, not subject to us.

Koo-koo my ass. Postponing the tour is the most sane thing she could do.

I read this last night and got a little teary-eyed. My ex put our dog down last month and this was super relevant to my feels.

Oh that made me cry - I had to put my 18 year old cat to sleep in May becuase he also had a tumor - it could not be operated on and he was on meds and stuff since 2006 or so and did really well for the most part. He was such a sweet funny boy and I seriously could barely function for months. I can't imagine anyone doing anything but what she's doing. Sad.

I don't like the term "rescuing" a dog. You either get a dog or you don't. You're not rescuing anything. Makes dog ownership somehow sound heroic. It's not. Dogs are mans greatest invention and all they want in return is companionship. Owning a dog that was bred for you is just as righteous as a dog that you pick up from the pound.

i've noticed fancy employs patrice wilson like tactics to get comments on his posts. she might be a emotional train wreck but shes not crazy. also, rescuing an dog brings way more of an emotional connection then buying a perfectly healthy dog from a puppy mill. little known fact: irunfast86 has emotions.

@Ferdyfred

Actually I've had both since I was 10, but I remain aware that they are animals and I don't try and humanize them by attributing qualities I want to find in them like this lady clearly does.

Having a cat I love very much I can see how she can feel this way and isn't up to tours at the moment.

I get it.

When I was in my early teens I got a puppy...he was great - a black lab/doberman cross. When I joined the military I had to send him to my mother's in scotland to live.

Every time I got leave and saw him he'd do that 'really excited-pissing-in-zig-zags' things that dogs do. Well one day I got the call that he'd got a tumour on his spine and I told my CO I needed the next day off as leave so I could get back to scotland to be with him at the vets when he was put to sleep. He gave me the leave straight away.....mind you he did say I was drating mad.

i happen to be a fan of fiona apple. only got into her stuff a couple of years ago, long after she left the limelight. she's a talented singer/songwriter/musician who sadly got stuck with the label of being nothing more than a whiny rape victim. if the lyrics she writes reflect her personality, then i'm not surprised to see her write this letter. good for her, far too many people put their career far too high on their priority scale.

had a Persian cat - smokie for 9 years, had a tumor when he was 6 spent thousands trying to sort him out, had to put him down in the end, and it killed me,still have his brother, it was his brothers response which hurt, smokie died a few years ago, and Winston (his brother) gathered him up in his paws and rubbed his face up to him, tis what killed me
