Having spent the majority my life in the south, I can boil the art of the southern dialect into two rules.
1) All single syllable words become two syllable words.
2) All words with more than a single syllable should reduce their syllable count by one.
For example: Head = hey ed
alright = ite |

I second what SmagBoy1 said. However...the rest is nothing I haven't heard or used before. Go figure? Also..the saying is, "I'm fuller than a tick on a bloodhound." In fact I can add a few! "You lie like a dog in the afternoon sun!" "He/she's madder than a hornet!" "I'm sweatin' like a sinner in church" One of my favorites :D |

The most colorful phrase I learned during my three years in Louisiana was "He's got the red ass" meaning "He's very mad" about something. |

I'm from the South, grew up here, and one thing that bugs me about this video (and it's pretty universal when non-Southerners try to do Southern) is the misuse of "y'all". Y'all is NOT singular. You don't walk up to a person and ask "How y'all doin'?" You might walk up to a group of people and ask it, or "What up, y'all?" But we NEVER use "y'all" in the singular. |
