Ferrofluid is waaay COOL. And Essen, it is much more than "just oil with ironshaving." The iron particles must be of uniform size and shape and must be coated with a surfactant (often oleic acid) to keep it from clumping together. Otherwise, the iron would be separated from the oil when the magnetic field is applied. |
