Perhaps you are right. I myself debated it to begin with but rationalized it by thinking that it is his responsibility to safeguard such information.

@dm: I know what healing circles are. For certain things, like substance abuse, I agree. However, (and I'm not sure of the specifics on this) there have been many cases of a First Nation person committing a crime and only being sentenced to a healing circle. That's BS. |

@Camael: People in Canada are constantly reminded of First Nation's people. I live in a province with a very high number of them, shame is, not only are they poor and have problems with substance abuse like black people in the US, they also ACT like black people in the US (not all do, but ones in the cities seem to). When I was a teen I went to a Snoop concert and after a whole bunch kept calling him "my n*gger" Snoop actually reminded them that they weren't black.
That being said, our government makes a big deal out of honouring and respecting them and their culture, so much so that cultural traditions such as "healing circles" are used to treat people with substance abuse problems, or even as a form of "punishment" for some actual crimes. This I do not agree with though, because I think healing circles are BS. |
