You really leave your cat at home by himself for a week?? WTF...
Dogs need to be walked, that's no big deal; don't you normally have to piss more than once a day? Also, my dog never shredded anything like that.

With enough litter boxes and a food/water dispenser, I can go on vacation and leave my cat at home for a week. He entertains himself. A dog can't go 8 hours without pissing and poo-ing all over the carpet, and shredding the sofa. |

See? Cats are like one trick ponies - give them a box and they entertain themselves, but do little else for you to ooh and ahhh over.
Get a real pet, like a dog. A dog will do dozens of tricks; while he is entertained, it is the owner that is entertained more.
Not much entertainment for a human being watching a scruffy cat climb in a box. |
