it is ironic how people are addressed by their low income yet most convenient to this Nation's lazy ass. They clean streets because of the mess you create. without them you would die in your own dirt. They deliver your food because you are lazy to go pick it up. they raise your kids because you dont have time to raise your own and you trust them more than your own race. These people make your life CONVENIENT yet you try to look down on them. That's the structure of any society ignorant |

I could be wrong, but the people who matter in industry can export jobs by shutting down plants in one country and opening them somewhere where starvation wages and lax regulation = profit.
Agriculture and the service industries can't physically relocate so they export jobs by using illegal aliens who can't ask for minimum wage or reasonable conditions or responsible regulation because they are, y'know, not legally present.
So economically they are crucial to profit and cheap services, but politically it plays to a certain demographic to kick them around a bit. After all, what can they do about it? They're illegal.
It's a grotesque dance of hypocrisy and expediency to facilitate and exploit a sub-class and then blame them for existing. And it's a dead end.
That won't play any more. But I agree with those who say this article was cropped to make it look dumb when the opening was clearly a lead-in to a closer analysis. |

So, I'm guessing that in the next paragraph, the one we don't see, the writer points out that he was being ironic. That Latinos are in our Armed Services in unprecedented numbers. Latinos serve in government. Latinos work as professionals, police officers, as fire fighters, engineers and, sure, as day labor.
As I say, I have a feeling the cropping of this photo is what's most important. The article surely goes on to point out the very real and significant Latino contribution to our country. |
