Lets look at this differently since everyone thinks it's for school.. Perhaps it was a Sunday school assignment. Little Christian kids talk about god, learning about sins and stuff, but they're comparing him to spiders, something tangible. They teach them about spiders rather than showing a cartoon about a man painted red pulling evil shenanigans. Keep kids interested and all that. Maybe? |

@SmagBoy1 I couldn't agree with you more and that certainly deserves to be mocked openly on the internet. However, if what we're mocking is failing to separate science and religion, then things like "brainwashing" and "abortion" are out of place. I notice that the assignment does have proper entomology in it and I have to assume that this isn't being foisted on children who aren't already Christian. If we want to talk about religious rights and separation of church and state then that should a) be done somewhere other than a comedy site, and b) keep in mind that just as Christians have no right to thrust their religion on others, so too do non-Christians have no right to thrust their non-religion on Christians.
I just find it funny how quickly these threads turn into "eliminate Christianity because it's ignorant and intolerant" when the people who are so vehemently against religion are doing the exact same thing they are decrying. |

Hey, Kilgore89, you want to teach a kid about Christianity, that's fine. But, perhaps, you know, when teaching a kid about spiders, and discussion spiders, one might not want to go on ahead and ask how Satan is tempting the child, or whatever. I mean, drat. Teach them all you want, but, that's like, "Okay kids, 1+1=....well, wait. First, before we go there, let's talk about how the devil is drating you and your mom and your dad..." "But, teacher, what was 1+1?" "That doesn't matter, Kid! We're talking about SATAN!" So, you know, there's tolerance, and then there's pointing out that, perhaps, when teaching science, we want to stick with effing science. When teaching maths, maths. And, fine, when teaching religion, we can do the whole Satan thing. You know? |
