@carmium & @mrtomz: Holy poo! I thought 'entomology' included all forms of insect-LIKE critters too! But nope, you are correct!

"What's God got to do with it?" It looks like a Sunday School handout, seems logical that God has "something to do with it" eh???

LOL! Silly Christians.

@patchouly: Lolz! It's true! I cannot argue with that!

For all who are BASHING Christians rather than just laughing at them: Go look at what Muslims teach THEIR children, then STFU!
(glares at @SmagBoy...)

Thanking for noting the difference between entomology and arachnology, mrtomz. Did you get that, Fancy?

In my defense, everyone is always complaining that Fancy's posts aren't funny.. So you can imagine how I got the wrong idea. ;)

I've been corrected, my bad. I was just attempting to aim the conversation in a more lighthearted direction.

THIS IS NOT JUST A COMEDY SITE.

Here is the description that is on the front page:

Loads of viral videos, games, memes, lists and social networking for when you're bored.

Notice comedy is not mentioned once.

I think satan ensnared fancylad by tricking him into thinking spiders are insects.

Promises of soda pop and staying up as late as you want is a temptation few third graders could resist.

Also, this is a comedy site not a debate club.

Satan sat in the pit of Hell, pondering his sliding grip on humanity. "Third graders," He muttered, frustrated by the lack of this demographic in his realm. "I must discover more avenues by which to ensnare them..."

Even without the Satan thing; what the drat is the point of this worksheet? To babysit the kids so the teacher can text?

Lets look at this differently since everyone thinks it's for school.. Perhaps it was a Sunday school assignment. Little Christian kids talk about god, learning about sins and stuff, but they're comparing him to spiders, something tangible. They teach them about spiders rather than showing a cartoon about a man painted red pulling evil shenanigans. Keep kids interested and all that. Maybe?

@SmagBoy1 I couldn't agree with you more and that certainly deserves to be mocked openly on the internet. However, if what we're mocking is failing to separate science and religion, then things like "brainwashing" and "abortion" are out of place. I notice that the assignment does have proper entomology in it and I have to assume that this isn't being foisted on children who aren't already Christian. If we want to talk about religious rights and separation of church and state then that should a) be done somewhere other than a comedy site, and b) keep in mind that just as Christians have no right to thrust their religion on others, so too do non-Christians have no right to thrust their non-religion on Christians.

I just find it funny how quickly these threads turn into "eliminate Christianity because it's ignorant and intolerant" when the people who are so vehemently against religion are doing the exact same thing they are decrying.

Hey, Kilgore89, you want to teach a kid about Christianity, that's fine. But, perhaps, you know, when teaching a kid about spiders, and discussion spiders, one might not want to go on ahead and ask how Satan is tempting the child, or whatever. I mean, drat. Teach them all you want, but, that's like, "Okay kids, 1+1=....well, wait. First, before we go there, let's talk about how the devil is drating you and your mom and your dad..." "But, teacher, what was 1+1?" "That doesn't matter, Kid! We're talking about SATAN!" So, you know, there's tolerance, and then there's pointing out that, perhaps, when teaching science, we want to stick with effing science. When teaching maths, maths. And, fine, when teaching religion, we can do the whole Satan thing. You know?

Good Lord you people are all so intolerant. Remember, we live in a tolerant society so you should always be open minded and accept people regardless of their race, religion, creed, beliefs, sexual orientation, gender, colour, political viewpoints, education and socio-economic status. Well.. except for the Christians... we're open-minded, but F*** those Christians.

@ferdyfred The US has this little outdated law that enshrines the freedom of speech related to government and religion.

Unfortunatley people have taken it WAYYYYYYYYYYYYY to far.

WHAT IS A WAY THAT SATAN TRIES TO TRAP 3RD GRADERS??

Whisky-Tango-Foxtrot is that S-H-I-T! Parents, please stop brainwashing your children. Teach them things they need to know in life: balancing your checkbook, playing the stockmarket, work ethics, making a grilled cheese sandwich...

Don't teach them some made up, archaic, misogynistic, dogmatic ramblings....

Ugh...

Thoroughly annoyed...

Well, let's see. One way would be causing them to want to vote for any Democrat, but especially for Obama. Or to have an abortion. Granted, they're too young to vote or have an abortion at that age, but, voting for Barry is apparently as evil as the great Satan can get someone to become! Or so I've heard on my FB wall from all of my butthurt conservative friends in the wake of the election.
