1. War? - doubt it... no one goes to war with America!
2. Terrorists? - doubt it... your house is NOT their priority!
3. Burglars? - Not exactly going to hide behind a water trough with an arsenal and shoot you for half an hour! - They'd probably run after the first shot
4. Zombies - Don't exist you spaz!
5. Animals? - Unless you live in a zoo, I'm pretty sure it'd just be the one... no arsenal needed!

What pisses me off is the fact, that Mosins are dirt cheap in USA. Seeing how mass produced and widely available they were even in these parts and how they simply vanished makes me mad. I like the M/N albeit the fact that it is a nice shoulder dislocator and just looking at the price differences and availablity is just....argh. |

I get that. I do. I understand having a shotgun for home protection or a hand gun for personal protection. I also get a rifle for hunting. However, what on earth does everyone need "some kind of combat weapon" for? |

@carmium - some people fantasize that they will be at the right place at the right time and save a little village Spaghetti Western style. That and they have a pathological fear of being a "victim" and guns give them a false sense of security. |

Extreme fallback position in the case of tyranny or invasion. That's not all that effective nowadays, given how much more firepower a military force would have. Some people with handguns aren't going to do well against a tank or a military plane, for example. But it would make occupation by an invading force much harder. Conquer the USA and you face millions of armed insurgents with a vast amount of remote land to hide out in. It wouldn't be safe for the occupying forces to go anywhere.
A very unlikely scenario, but not as unlikely as a zombie apocalypse. |

I suppose if you live in europe, you can just throw rocks until you get home to grab your butter knife.
1) Gun laws aren't the same in every European country. For example, Switzerland requires every household to own a military grade rifle and for all adults to be skilled in using it.
2) You're probably thinking of the UK. There are 2 million licensed guns in the UK. You thought there weren't any, didn't you?
3) Other weapons are legally available without restrictions in the UK. Crossbows, for example. Rather more effective than a butter knife, wouldn't you say? |

Nope - I think I will out shoot your slingshot. Not that they can't be deadly, mind you.
@mykunter - I prefer the Beretta as well. The grips are very comfortable in my hands and I like the action on it. I had a Springfield 1911, but never really liked the narrow grips. My next, though, will be something from the XD series for my CCW. |
