Thursday, November 08, 2012 5:34:57 AM Now I'm intrigued. What is special about Chicago? You can't carry a pistol. It been working so great cause gangbangers obey the law!! <--- (sarcasm) There's shootings there constantly showing what a joke the law is. |

Thursday, November 08, 2012 4:58:35 AM Might interest folks to know that one of the strongest supporters of the movement to outlaw marijuana was the cotton lobby, which was trying to suppress the production of hemp--which makes beautiful and durable cloth. |

Thursday, November 08, 2012 4:51:52 AM So, not to sound too preachy, but aren't there more important things to worry about than whether or not weed is legal? I can think of a few just off the top of my head. This just seems like a selfish law to pass. I'm all for using it if you need it medicinally, but come on people, let's be smart about the laws we pass. |

Thursday, November 08, 2012 12:06:34 AM @ insanmonster: I agree 100% with you. Driving under influence of either alcohol or THC is dangerous and should never be accepted nor legalized. In regards to testing for THC on the spot it is actually possible. The police is doing it here in Copenhagen. Here's a link to an article about it, although it is in danish, but perhaps you could use google translate to read it. http://politiken.dk/indland/ECE1799695/politiet-snupper-21-bilister-med-hash-i-blodet-ved-christiania/Politiken article |

Wednesday, November 07, 2012 11:18:35 PM Here is the only point I have to make about the issue. I don't care and neither should anyone else if a responsible adult decides to enjoy a little weed in the privacy of their own home. However, I think all/most of us would agree that this person should not go into their car and out onto the road. Yes I understand that it is probably not as bad as driving drunk I just think that it is important to be 100% cognitive when behind the wheel of a motor vehicle. If there was a way to test whether or not someone was driving while under the influence of THC on the spot just like there is with alcohol then I would side with legalizing it. However, blood tests show that someone has smoked weed recently, not that they are currently on the substance. |

Wednesday, November 07, 2012 8:19:21 PM You're wrong Crakr. In his 2008 campaign, President Obama vowed he would not “use Justice Department resources to try and circumvent state laws about medical marijuana.†Since October 2009, Americans for Safe Access found that the Justice Department has conducted more than 170 dispensary raids, indicting 61 people in 9 medical marijuana states. The DOJ under Obama is doing exactly what you just said they won't do. Facts is facts. |

Who cares if it isn't legal Federally. Alcohol prohibition ended at the state level first. It's a good start. Most importantly, local cops won't be making average joe pothead into a criminal, and taking them to jail. I live in Washington state so eat your heart out suckas. |

Wednesday, November 07, 2012 7:29:25 PM "You guys realize that it doesn't change anything at this point in time since it's still illegal FEDERALLY, right? ;)" That's accurate, but the courts arguing States' Right to substance control (or lack there of) is a distinct possibility, that will set a rolling precedence, this is where that starts. |

Wednesday, November 07, 2012 6:55:08 PM @Runemang Agreed. People forget that federal law trumps all. It's a start but... This is why medical marijuana is tricky, too. |
