I say nothing about Romney, I'm not here to defend him.
Tax revenue in 2000 was about 2 trillion. Spending was 1.8 trillion.
2004 - Revenue: 1.8 trillion. Spending 2.2 trillion.
2008 - Revenue: 2.7 trillion. Spending 2.9 trillion
2012 - Revenue: 2.4 trillion. 3.8 trillion
More tax money isn't needed to fund the endless increases. Life was good in the 90's and we were only spending 1.8 trillion. Now we need to spend more than double or it's total armageddon?
And we are certainly spending more on this recession than in the past. Our debt-gdp ratio is flirting with its WW2 all time high - and it will then pass it - and we never even fought a global war like World War 2, nor did we get the few benefits of the WW2 spending (Gov't spending that caused a sharp recession in the 40's so it wasn't even that good).
I don't understand, are you asserting that we are spending less than on the dot com bubble? I don't see it. |

I agree totally. I saw it before you edited it out. I would defend you if anyone tried to bash you for that. It is a completely respectable degree. However if you choose to keep it secret I will respect that. |

I saw your degree before you removed it AJ, I don't think it's anything to be ashamed of and I don't think IABers will think badly of you for it. Certain jobs have been hit harder than others, but it's not really a result of having Obama for president. I'm sure you could easily trace the issue back to something that began before he took office, so to throw it all on him doesn't seem logical. |

My wife is about to graduate with the same degree as well. We may just have to do that.
Birmingham is a huge financial center. You'd think there would be opportunities here. |

I've literally put in over 200 (private sector) applications in the last 3 years. No-one is hiring, or they are suspending regular hiring.
Most told me to try again after the elections.

There are people that profited greatly during the great depression. There are people who lost everything during the Clinton economic boom. I feel for you and I hope things get better for you but picking one person's experience is anecdotal at best. Does all the data I have posted about how things have gotten better across the board mean nothing to you?
I hope your life improves in the next 4 years. I just don't want 4 years of half this country rooting for failure like they did the last 4. |

It is really disheartening. I can tell you in all honesty that if Romney would have won I would be on here saying how dissapointed I am but hoping I was wrong and hoping things can better.
