I don't think anyone is against the idea of a federal agency tasked with the responsibility of coordinating disaster relief efforts.
I think what people, including myself, object to is the bloated, inefficient, corrupt, money wasting, largely useless bureaucratic boondoggle FEMA has become. |

To try an analogy to explain FEMA I would suggest that it is like home owner's insurance. FEMA works as a shared risk pool. It is actuarially irrational to shrink the pool and make all members of the pool in essence self-insure.
It's simple logic and arithmetic. I know the true-believers will remain unconvinced. Sigh |

I seen no flip-flops here. I see some republicans praising FEMA, after the storm, and others advocating that emergency funds be kept and handled at the state level. Considering that Obama completely ignored Texas's plea for FEMA help, earlier this year, I do believe the states should have control of their own EMA funds instead of the president. |

Again, why does a Canadian (5Cats) give one poo about US politics? Makes no sense to me. Plus, the Republicans seem to be against anything that will make them points at the moment and then when it will lose them points to be against it, they are for it... I mean flip flop flip flop is Romney's middle name... Then they put out "facts" that are nothing of the sort and keep repeating them after they've been proven to be false. And their base gobbles this crap up and the spews it back out as fact again and again. "Our campaign will not be dictated to by fact-checkers." My last point in a nut shell... |

publicly you have to come up with one straw-man argument, lie and BS statement after another denying reality while privately and quietly, acknowledging that same reality as true and adhering to it...all the while telling your constituents that none of it is true. |
