You failed. The fact that you failed doesn't mean the next candidate won't fail. However, he has much more experience in job creation, and the economy in general. More experience, and not failing as you have. OVERSEAS... fail. Why? You can try IAB... logic.

History Lesson Time!
Barack's Order Features prominent mention of the Geneva Convention, which is good.
However, the creation of Gitmo is because of the GC!
Soldiers in uniform have GC rights, but those NOT in unifrom have... none!
It used to be spys, scouts and partisans who were non-uniformed soldiers, but now it's "terrorists" who fill that catagory.

If you capture a non-U soldier, you can shoot him on the spot! Or "question him" (you're not supposed to use torture, but beatings are OK) and THEN shoot him!

The US Army had to come up with a plan to keep captured non-U alive, (the notion of Americans shooting POWs is a no-go!) but still be able to interrogate them.

Gitmo is an elegant solution! It's worked just fine! THAT is why Obama has chosen to keep it open.

@chalket: I do recall an order to "study the removal" which seems to be what you've linked.
That's fine.

However it's NOT the Republicans who "stopped BHO" in that case, it's the DEMOCRATS who told him "sorry Mr.Prez but closing Gitmo isn't prudent!"

My points remain:
#1 No Republican stopped BHO from closing Gitmo (although they OBVIOUSLY rejected the idea, duh! That's their JOB as opposition!)
#2 BHO's own people refused to close it.
#3 Rather than admit the truth, Obama (and his people) spread LIES to cover his butt on the subject.

A REAL PotUS would say: The BucK Stops Here!
Obama Says: The evil Republicans MADE ME do it!

He promised to close it in YEAR ONE and did not. It's a fact!~ no excuses can change that.

#10 I honestly don't know if Obama said 2011, nor do I care really. Still it's a sure sign of his LACK of knowledge and experience, eh?

#11 "It's not the best solution" = Opposed it!
And he (and the rest of the Democrats) DID oppose it! Called Gen "Betray-Us" (remember that?) a murderer for supporting such a plan!
Later Obama... oreder a Surge in Afghanistan! Led by... General Petraeus! Suddenly the Democrats LOVE this guy!
So it's not so bad that Obama did what his party told him, but he's still responsible for his words and actions!
#12 Oh most certainly: Obama claimed 100% of the credit for withdrawl in Iraq!~ Bush was never mentioned, and the MSM were happy to comply!

I thanks you for your reasoned, polite discussion! So rare these days on IAB... feel free to continue to disagree, I don't mind!

2) you side-stepped my challenge about super-majorities. go home, eh?

@jtreb: Side stepped what? I answered it up, down AND sideways! Please explain what you've failed to grasp.

@Tekinette: There's links provided to get the "full story", easy-peasy! Putting the "full story" on EVERY point would make the list 5 miles long!!!
6 & 7: so it's true, good.
#8: "minus the torture" LMAO! No really, my ass just fell off because I laughed AT YOU so hard!
Just what ARE they doing to prisoners on those "black ships" in international waters? Hummm? Playing Parcheesi?
#9 Obama kept his promise, but of course he followed the EXACT timeline Bush had ordered! So in FACT it was Bush how "ended the war in Iraq" and not Obama (although it happed while he was PotUS...)
#10 - when the chatacter counter gets near 900? Chances are it's time to post reply (lolz!)

When the first one was 'flubbing the oath of office' I knew it was a BS list. If you cannot even start from a point of substance, then you have lost me.

Also, when several Tea Party Republican congressmen erroneously took their oaths in front of a TV while watching the ceremony on CSpan, did this web page all them out for it? Even when several of their votes had to be withdrawn because of their stupidity? No.

Be consistent. Be relevant. Be accurate. Then maybe I will listen.

@5BrainlessCats "Fun Fact: I challenged @madest to show me the Close-Gitmo bill from Obama's first year in office (like BHO promised) which the Repubs defeated... he linked an article from 2011, that TALKED ABOUT a POSSIBLE BILL... amazing!"

Are you really forgetting Obama's attempt to close Gitmo? Really? Amazing!

As an undecided voter, those have to be the stupidest reasons to not vote for something. Half of those are untrue pieces of story out of context. The other 3/8's are useless sentences thats part of the previous point or preceding point. Then, for probably less than the 1/8 that's left there might be valid reasons, depending on which side of the story you fall on.

Wouldn't a genius realize that if even we were socialist we'd still be a democracy because we voted for it?

Wouldn't someone with an IQ of 85 and an 8th-grade education know that the US is not a democracy?

K Im running out of text again lol...

Anyways

# 11 He said he didn't think it was the best solution. He later admited that the surge did work. Most military experts were skeptic it would work, he admited he was wrong, that's a good thing to me really.

# 12 He put an end to the war in Iraq, he didn't mention any "victory" because it wasn't, he did talk about the troops and their success but not about bush. How is that bad ? Should he have used a 2nd mission accomplished banner with Bush ?

Anyways this is stupid, Obama did some mistakes but this list seems to really have a hard time finding them. I can list more lies of Romney and he isn't even president yet, how sad is that ?

Vote for the guy that tied his dog to the roof of his car. lol If nothing else was against him that would be enough to say "hmmm maybe this guy doesn't exhibit good judgment after all". Just saying.

#6 Obama as a senator did speak out against it, saying it could be improved and he prefered the senate version of the bill... And once Obama became president he did pass key measures in the executive branch that added oversift and transparency to it. Once again : true fact omitting the full story.

# 7 Same thing

#8 "Obama continues the “Bush practice” of extraordinary rendition." Once again omiting that it's minus the torture. A new CIA unit monitored and following strict rules which outlans the use of physical force. Also no more detainess sent to countries known for torture interrogations. He was even praised by the Human Rights Watch for the transparency.

#9 Obama said "1st day in office, I would give the military a new mission: ending this war" and he did. He promised to bring all combat troops within 16 months, he did it in august, combat troops that is, he was 3 months late, not 34...

# 10 He never said that, st

@5Cats

#3 Oh come on, are you kidding me ?

In May 2009 the Congress voted to block the funding of Guantanamo.
The following month Congress voted a bill that required the administration to report plans before moving any detainee and prevented them from moving them onto US soil as well as restrictions to transfer or release any Guantamo detainee to a foreign country.

Meanwhile the Congress had no problem with Bush releasing over 500 detainees or transfering more than 600 detainees to foreign countries.

#5 Ya let's just stick to american citizen, let's not mention terrorist on purpose..

So if a terrorist working for Al Quaida has an american citizenship he can't be killed ? If Obama does nothing or if he sends an army to arrest him he's going to be criticized as well, so much hypocrisy.. And yes there's many proof that he was a terrorist, there's even tapes of him talking about it.

One reason is enough for me: NDAA.

How can I vote for somebody who took a poo on our constitution? Sure, he lied about a lot of things to get elected - thats the way politics works. Ok, he takes bribes from lobbyists - they all do. Etc, Etc...

But I can not vote for anybody (not even by voting against his opponent) who does not believe in the basic liberties granted by our constitution.

"158. When President Obama threw out the first pitch at baseball game, he nearly launched it into the bleachers."

Well that is convincing, I know now I can't vote for this man, clearly this shows the weakness of his character

Fun Fact: I challenged @madest to show me the Close-Gitmo bill from Obama's first year in office (like BHO promised) which the Repubs defeated... he linked an article from 2011, that TALKED ABOUT a POSSIBLE BILL... amazing!
Yet consistant.

@tekinette: Yes, 1 & 2 are just silly!
#3: Obama SWORE he'd close it in his first year! He VOWED to! PROMISED it over and over again!
But, he lied...
#5 Yes, it's a fact, Obama has a "kill list" AND has deliberatly targeted American Citizens for drone strikes! Tell me again about "right to a fair trial"...
#6 = true fact
#7 = true fact
#8 = true fact
#9 = true fact
#10 = true fact
#11 = true fact
#12 = ...seeing the pattern here?

@HG: Be quite boy, your ignorance is showing!
#1 they HAD a supermajority in the House.
#2 they HAD a supermajority in the Senate!

Tell me again how 'it doesn't matter'! Because BHO DID have it!
Oh boo hoo, for 7 months there was only a 59-40 majority in the Senate, therefore it's IMPOSSIBLE to pass a SINGLE BILL! Right? Yup!
NOT ONE PotUS ever passed a single, solitary Bill without a Senate Supermajority! NOT ONE! It's a FACT! Gee, thanks for your "edumication" @HG

Oh! But if one Repub just didn't vote? 59-39 = Supermajority Too! You're telling me that not ONE Senate RHINO couldn't be persuaded to sit on his/her hands? Hellfire, some even supported Obamacare!!

Now I say AGAIN: Show me the Gitmo legislation that the Repubs DEFEATED in 2009, go on! I'll even give you until Nov of 2010...

So HG, are you saying you think the entire blame of why Obama sucks can be put squarely on the filibuster law?

What other constitutional laws don't you agree with?

"Are you denying that in 2009 the Democrats held MAJORITIES? If not, then STFU FFS!"

Ughhh. Educating you gets tiresome. Majorities don't do anything in American politics. You need a super majority to be able to block filibusters.
