I'm confused by this argument, it's like saying we shouldn't outlaw the death penalty because people will kill murderers themselves. Making a law doesn't mean people won't try to break it, but it means we can punish those who do and hopefully less people will break it as a result.

nobody has the right to judge or protest against such a personal and emotional situation that a woman faces...

@SpannerBulb: I'd say the BABY has a right to object! Since it's he/she who's about to be KILLED eh?

VV @Slenderboy: Welcome to IAB!
In the USA the Republican Party's "mascot" is an elephant (the Democrats have a Donkey).
The concept of "coat hanger abortions" was used to pass pro-abortion laws in the USA.

So the meaning of the cartoon is: the Republicans want to go back to the days when abortions were illegal and you'll have to use a coat-hanger again.

Of course this is completely and utterly FALSE, but that's never stopped the left before...

Abortion should be a personal choice, nobody has the right to judge or protest against such a personal and emotional situation that a woman faces when taking such a decision. Lack of education and insane religious beliefs are at the foundation of most of the opposing arguments to abortion, quite frankly it's none of your drat*ng business.

right... because ALL Republicns want women to have atrocious care.

Not exactly, but since personhood amendments are a typical part of the official Republican platform, it's not exactly hyperbole either.

Now Obama's position on abortion is of course to allow infanticide. If the baby is born alive you can still kill it if you don't want it.

@randomxnp = Correct! Again!

iirc: Obama voted 3 times to allow "post-partum abortions" or whatever euphamism they used. While he was in Illinois, iirc.

If you "intended" to abort the baby, but it came out alive? It is OK to kill it by denying life-saving care.

Obamacare = same goes for Grandma!

I used to oppose abortion, but now I think: if you want to kill your child? Go ahead! Get your filthy DNA OUT of the genepool!
Just don't expect ME to pay for it! But I do, since I'm Canadian...

To say wanting abortion outlawed is forcing women to have back-alley, coat-hanger abortions, is like saying outlawing the sale of human organs 'forces' people to sell kidneys in black market transactions.
---------
I'm old enough to remember it. One of two options were available. Back alley for the poor. Hospital in another country for the rich. Where were you Gerry?

So while it's itellectually stupid, it's so well done and creative I like this!

If guys gave birth, Democrats would have their death squads roaming the streets shooting men having illegal back alley abortions (since the Supreme Court would have ruled Joe v. Wade the other way).

If guys gave birth abortions would be government funded and available on demand at 7/11 until the 9th month.

I see nothing wrong with abortion. We have already done what we are supposed to do evolutionarily, which is fornicate and reproduce in massive numbers. We will only keep growing as a civilization faster and faster, hopefully. So by all means. If you want that birth control and want to rip that baby fetus out of your body so it doesn't ruin your unfulfilled dreams. By all means go ahead ladies. Don't listen to everybody trying to tell you what you can and can't do with your bodies. They just jealous!

"hate religious people-all of them"

Religious people and republicans don't solely own the belief that killing an unborn baby as a method of birth control is reprehensible.

I am against organized religion and socially liberal, however I am strongly against abortion in approximately 98% of cases.

SmagBoy: There is a big difference between 'illegal' and available. Just because it may not be available in some cities, doesn't make it illegal.

The problem with your link is the word 'virtual', you can prefix nearly any word with 'virtual' and deceive people. Not unlike how they sell jewelry on TV with 'virtual' diamonds.

CrakrJak, I'm not even going to argue that with you. The fact is that it's virtually illegal *now* in several states already. I'm not even try to be a smart ass. See this. It has cites. Here

As for if Roe v. Wade were overturned, what that would cause, I'm not sure how you can say it'd be illegal. Again, I'm not going to argue with you. The reality is what it is. I only have one vote.

SmagBoy: Even if Roe v. Wade was overturned it wouldn't make abortion illegal. In that event, abortion would still be available in most states.

This coat hanger rhetoric is totally absurd.

Look, I wasn't attacking Bush, guys. At all. I was only saying that I could make lame pictures like the one MeGrendel posted implying that Obama was laughing it up instead of being President when the consulate attack was happening. I was only saying that kind of stuff is too easy to do--and intellectually dishonest, too. I wasn't doing that, just pointing it out.

As for Bush or Reagan not outlawing abortion, you're right. A president can't. But the facts are clear, and posted, about what the party's been doing at a state and congressional level. And you know it's true, and you support it. So, why not just claim it?

During Katrina, Bush asked to be invited to offer Federal assistance (as required by your federal system). The Democrat Governor refused. He and the Democrat Mayor also refused to use their own resources for evacuation (remember the school buses?).

@randomxnp is correct: I saw it myself, Bush signed orders THREE DAYS before Katrina hit... and the (Democrat) Mayor didn't order an evacuation intil ONE day before...

Bush did everything a PotUS can do! What did you expect? Him to make like Moses and part the waters? FFS!

@SmagBoy: Wee Wee Wee! The sky is falling!
Wee Wee Wee! Republicans want to kill us all!

You really are a Democrat 'shill' eh?
OBVIOUSLY the Repubs want to outlaw abortion:
Reagan did it! Oh no wait, he didn't...
Bush I did it! Oh no...
Bush 2, HE outlawed abortion at least 3 times! Right! No? Oh my...

It seams reality holds no meaning at all for our dear @SmagBoy...

PS: WEE WEE WEE! The majority has NO SAY in a Democracy!

And HolyGod, while I'm normally right there with you, the idea that Republicans won't abolish abortion given the chance is pure fantasy. Please see the links I've provided. They're not only already doing it. They're doing it incredibly effectively.

Oh, that's right 5Cats. Pretend that this isn't an issue brought into bright, bright focus in the political landscape by Republicans over the last two years by changing laws in over 30 states making abortion and contraception far more difficult to obtain. Pretend it's not an issue nowadays all you want, or that your conservative brethren aren't the ones driving it. You may stick your head in the sand, but ignoring the truth doesn't change it.
