At least here in NY police cars are not considered passenger vehicles under the law. The parking laws,traffic laws ect. do not apply to those vehicles. Ever notice that the license plates are not state issued plates? Because they are registered to whatever department owns them.
Usually tho, one expects the police to behave to a 'higher moral standard' and not abuse parking privileges and such. |

What I don't get is why good cops don't create a hostile work environment for bad cops.
Because of the police sub-culture. Plus you may need them to back you up some day. |

Hey, it's hard to find decent parking in Ottawa's downtown market area...
In actuality, I don't take either side. Too many people make a big deal about nothing all of the time - need to focus on more important things. |

The cop said "we're enforcing traffic right now".
That looks like a really violent neighbourhood. I bet cops get shot at and knifed all the time while enforcing traffic there.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with the cops being stopped there. I often encounter police cars parked in no parking zones on the sides of restaurants, and I think it should be allowed by law.
Some cops are douchebags - e.g., the cops that beat and arrested the homeless man living at the synagogue in NYC, WITH permission - but not all or even most.
What I don't get is why good cops don't create a hostile work environment for bad cops. The bad cops are making the good cops' work and lives more dangerous - and undermining the public's trust in the police, as a whole. If that were happening in most other professions, the bad seeds would be ostracized. |

I dislike a-hole cops as much as the next guy, but I do value the police, the job they do, and picking a nothing-fight like this is simply counterproductive. Now if it were rush hour and they were blocking traffic that's another story, but jeez, just let the guys have their Tim's. |

Cops cars can be parked in fire zones and no parking zones, they are considered emergency vehicles even if there is no emergency at the time.
