Like I said, Mr. Makavell, parts of those are different. If I was president, beyond everyone being rewarded with free pudding, every leader in the world who engages in genocide would have my nations army knocking down his door.

xbomber, By joining [sic] the military you are [sic] agreeing to go to war.

Zooks, there is no way you can compare this to WWII, in WWII WE WERE ATTACKED. Did you just conveniently forget about that.

Patriotism can be a good thing. But you are all blinded and made ignorant by it. You take the govt's word as gold, even after being blatantly lied to repeatedly.

I guess this is the tribute to the troops that didn't have a political message that a few of us asked for a week or so ago. And what happens? People critisize the troops.

I'd really hate to see how our generation would have reacted durring WWII, where more people would have died in a day of trench fighting than total lives lost in Iraq.

Yes, I know that certain parts of this war are different from WWII. However, Hitler and Saddam both committed acts of Genocide. I believe that is reason enough to go to war.

One more point is that we're already over there. We -can't- pull out right away. We did that in '91, and look where we are now.

-"They are the U.S [sic] Army, they deserve respect." Dare I ask why they deserve respect? Oh, yes:

-"They do what many of you didnt [sic] want to do, or couldnt. [sic]" So, whenever there is a man who has raped a little girl, I should respect him because he did what I don't want to do, right?

"They used it on our troops over there." Well, seeing as the United States didn't use water pistols (but practically every other thing that can explode, kill or maim) , I don't blame them for trying.

-"for crying out loud! we arn't [sic] attacking iraq [sic]!" Right, so all the English speaking soldiers in Iraq and tanks with the label "US" on it, do not exist, I should've known my eyes were deceiving me. Darn.

-"And we dont [sic] just brush everything under the carpet, its just that things like that dont [sic] get into the press." Why do you think things like that don't get into the press? Oh right, people might start thinking everything isn't going as planned (and I'm being sarcastic on the 'planned').

-"They may not have had any WMD's [sic], but they still had weapons they shouldnt [sic] have had." And the jury to decide who is permitted to have what sort of weapons would be?

-"Saddam need [sic] to be put outta [sic] power, because of all the war crimes he has commited [sic]." Yes, like there are the bombarding of civilians, torture of prisoners, flagrantly disobeying the UN, bullying other nations, invading countries without just cause, arresting and imprisoning people without a proper trial, ... Indeed, anyone who commits these acts should be put out of office. (there's sarcasm here, if you haven't noticed).

-"He was a threat." To who?

As the existentialists would have said: everyone is responsible for their own choices and actions, the fact that there is a negative outcome attached to (one of) the choices does not dismiss you of your responsibility to make a choice. If you choose to join the army, then you accept the fact that you may be sent into a war, if you choose to obey the order to bomb civilians, then you are still responsible (even if the threat of a court-martial looms above you). Nobody can say they are 'forced against their will' to do anything, you only obey because you choose to. Everyone must make choices, and everyone is free to make choices.

-"...the people who gave us our freedom." If I'm not mistaken, there hasn't been an occupation of the United States since... ever. Freedom isn't given, it's taken. You can give a slave freedom, but until he doesn't see himself as a slave anymore, he won't be free, he (and everyone for that matter) alone has the power to make himself free or enslaved.

"And yet we're all so worried about the American soldiers, who CHOSE to go to war and died?"
Mr Makaveli

Oh yea, i forgot, the soldiers wanted to go to war and get killed. Yeah, some of them did. But what about the rest of them? They wanted to join to have the title of a US Army soldier, or a US Marine. Nobody wants to be in war. And certainly, they did not Choose to go. They are the little men, they dont get to decide much on anything. They are told what they have to do, and if they dont, they get Court Marshalled and thrown in jail.

As long as we're getting into this again:

Iraq posed no threat to us. Think about it, the first time we went into Iraq it was because they had INVADED ANOTHER COUNTRY WITHOUT PROVOCATION. Now look at us. What are we doing? WE ARE INVADING ANOTHER COUNTRY WITHOUT PROVOCATION.
Consider this, 15 Iraqi civilians have died for every American soldier killed. And yet we're all so worried about the American soldiers, who CHOSE to go to war and died?
Yes in the past Saddam committed crimes amongst his own people. So what do we do to "save" the people of his country? We kill them.
Not to mention the Iraqi soldiers who have died supporting their country. Face it if...say the chinese attacked us because they didn't like Bush, would you not defend your country, even if you didn't like Bush either? Of course you would get out and fight.

Every single death that has been caused by this war has been unecessary. And if you don't respect human life above BS politics, then you a

They may have been outlawed, but the United States didn't go to war over SCUD's, they were going to war over supposed WMD's. the only SCUD deaths reported that are related to Iraq were 28 in the first Gulf War.

a SCUD missile is "A short range ballistic missile (SRBM) can reach up to approximately 700 miles (1,100 km)." The United states and Iraq are 2,742 miles apart. The 1991 gulf war destroyed Iraqs navy, and there ariforce was nonexsitent. Therfore, you could say that the use of SCUD missiles wouldn't do much to the United States. They could have potentially attacked Israel, but that wasn't the issue.

Yes Saddam Hussein is a terrible person, but the United States should gotten the United Nations to support the war. The estimate of the number of Iraqi's killed so far in this war is between 15493 and 17721. Even though Saddam is a murderer, the same could be said for George Bush.

"last time I checked, Iraq didn't threaten U.S freedom or security in any way, seeing that they didn't have any WMD's"
Skah

They may not have had any WMD's, but they still had weapons they shouldnt have had. (i.e SCUD missles) And also, Saddam need to be put outta power, because of all the war crimes he has commited. He killed his own people for years, and even some U.S citizens. He was a threat. If your neighbor was about to kill thier son/daughter, and you knew about it, would u just stand by and watch it happen? Same thing with Saddam and his people.

They are the U.S Army, they deserve respect. They do what many of you didnt want to do, or couldnt. That goes with every branch of the military. When i'm older, i am joining the Marine Corps, and it would really feel great if i had some support, so why not give it to the current soldiers?

"Ok, totally just shun the people who gave us our freedom"-xbomber08

last time I checked, Iraq didn't threaten U.S freedom or security in any way, seeing that they didn't have any WMD's, or links to Al Qaeda... And things like the bombing of innocence is not reported in the press because of the one-sidedness of American mainstream media.

Ok, totally just shun the people who gave us our freedom. Its war, not everything goes as planned. You could have the top personal, best everything, and yet things would go wrong. Nothing is fault proof. And we dont just brush everything under the carpet, its just that things like that dont get into the press.

I haven't bothered to watch all the pictures, but I wager they aren't showing the thousands of dead (Iraqis, Americans, etc.). Shame, those are really the best ones, nothing beats pictures (or even better: videos) of torture, abuse, rape, murder, bombardments of vermin (I mean children) and all the other things that make an army worth existing (oh, and the decapitation videos rock as well, pity it's such poor quality though).
Honestly, you oughtn't be ashamed, be proud of your army's accomplishments: myriad myriads of ruined lives (more if you'd count all the other justified wars you've waged, but who cares anyway?). But why are you still being so nice? Nuke 'm I say! Show the world how righteous your wrath is! Don't forget: you're right, they're not! Do not ask what your country can do for you, don't ask anything, just obey your leader!!!

Fascists.

Your right, it's not like they hit them purposfuly but calling innocent dead children "collateral damage", and brushing the problem under the rcarpet doesnt solve anyrthing

pfff...kikipeepers, if you followed any of the news you would know they dont have just sticks and stones. 2 of thier favorite weapons they use: AK-47s, and RPG's. And Jliu, its not like we aimed bombs and such at them purposly. It would be nice if people like you supported our soldiers more. I have a brother, and a cousin over there. Do you think they want to be where they are?
