Thursday, October 25, 2012 7:56:21 PM So are people upset that we have so many people punished for their crimes, or that we make them work and be what they wouldn't be on the outside; productive? It is sad that we have so many criminals here, but most of them get off too easy. |

Thursday, October 25, 2012 8:07:05 AM fraud sentence ok you can get up to a few years of prison for embezaling, oh, lets say, someone's pension and its gone, nothing will help that poor pensioned person.. Orpetty theft. now, i wont say that petty theft is ok, cause it simply isnt.. it should be stopped. But seriously, equal punishment? if you get caught with petty theft 3 times its off to the dog house with you never to return? but if i do fraud well, i probably never do it 3 times.. funny enough though, i could effect a lot more victims as a fraudulent person then as a petty criminal, but the petty criminal gets, at times, stricter punishment.. somehow.. its weird, isnt it? |

Thursday, October 25, 2012 2:13:34 AM They try to make it sound silly that Kevin Webber was given 25 years for stealing four cookies.. Not exactly true. He broke into a restaurant, through the ceiling to try to steal the safe. He set off the burglar alarm and he grabbed the cookies before running out. |

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 10:52:11 AM You know what the real crime is here I-Am Bored comrades. That all of you are to busy commentating on a matter that none of you experience. I live in Louisiana we have the worst ratio of people sitting in prison. Prison is a BIG Business, where I live the business is SO BIG that if you goto to jail for a simple battery they drug test you. If you fail the test or refuse in JAIL you now have on top of your simple battery a court mandate that allows the state to drug test you 3 times in three months if you fail one they put you on drug court for 2 yrs. Costing you thousands of dollars, hardship, loss of wages and so forth. SO STFU I-am-bored, comment on how to fix the problems instead of smart ass comments attacking each other. |

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 9:18:43 AM "The majority of you seem to think that "drugs" just means weed." Not me. I literally mean JUST Marijuana. In my opinion, weed is the same as alcohol. No drinking and smoking. No operating heavy machinery and smoking. etc. etc. etc. All other drugs, you know, those who make you lose your mind and go face eating crazy, should be illegal. But I truly truly believe those numbers in the video would go way down just legalizing pot. And someone else said sell it and tax it like alcohol, bingo. More money to the state/government. |

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 7:01:18 AM Illegalise the MISUSE and ABUSE of drugs, Wrong. Treat it as a health problem. To use your own example, when someone misuses or abuses alcohol, assuming they didn't commit some other crime while on it, there are plenty of addiction services for them; they should have the same for other drugs without fear of imprisonment. |

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 6:59:09 AM @whapitoot: It's nice that you didn't even manage to glean the key point in HG's post, which was that all those things you listed are due to the substances being illegal. If more places followed the Dutch model of harm reduction, where you treat drug addiction as a health issue and NOT as a crime, then you'd see a lot less of those violent crimes you listed. Locking people up isn't the answer, to borrow a little from Barry: The 1920s called, they want their drug policy back. |

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 4:24:10 AM @whapitoot Drug crimes are victimless in the sense that it is possible to take drugs WITHOUT stealing or mugging to support the habit. In the same way that it's possible to have a beer in the pub WITHOUT glassing someone in the face or attempting to drive home completely sloshed. Many people take offence to the suggestion that our toys must be taken away from us because a minority of people can't play with them properly. To ban a drug because some people misuse it is akin to banning all telephones because some people make prank calls. Illegalise the MISUSE and ABUSE of drugs, but not any sensible, harmless USE of a drug. |

Wednesday, October 24, 2012 1:07:18 AM When drugs destroy the mind of someone where they would happily mug someone just to get their next hit, I don't give a feck whether or not its classed as a violent crime, its a drug crime. The majority of you seem to think that "drugs" just means weed. Of that I am truly sad. When you're talking about Meth or Heroin, the same arguments don't really hold up. And I'm not sucking progoganda like a wh0re as you say, Orchideous. I have my own opinions based on having a reformed junkie as a close relative. Who, by the way, is proof that at can be done without methadone. I'm not saying that the current UK drug policy is working, I never said that. I simply took umbridge at the monumentally stupid comment that drug crimes are victimless (and there was no distinction of what kind of drug crime, so I don't think I overreacted). Holy god- a TV isn't chemically addictive you inbred knobjockey. |

Tuesday, October 23, 2012 8:09:22 PM Now all of you who spew venom everytime there is a vid showing Black people doing something questionable; remember this. If a perticular group of people are treated as badly as black people are you will see it reflected in social behavior. There is pattern. When a black person makes it good in the world it is way harder to archive then if you are White & disadvantaged. We are seeing a start of generation who don't see each other in colour. But miles to go before we sleep. |

Tuesday, October 23, 2012 8:09:03 PM whapitoot You are my new favorite idiot of the day. Saying someone mugging you for money to buy drugs means having drugs should be punished is no different than saying if someone mugs you for money to buy a TV than having a tv should be punished. BTW, people only rob people for drug money and drug cartels only exist because drugs are illegal and therefore expensive. You think many people get mugged for cigarette money? You are a moron. Level 9. Go sit in the corner and think about what you've done. |
