Thursday, October 18, 2012 2:11:02 PM @drips- No, in America, the cops would have tazed the guy, before the FD showed up with the 'landing pad', then stood around scratching their heads wondering what went wrong; After much in depth internal investigation, during which time the officers would be on paid leave, the consensus by the PD would be that all policies and guidelines had been followed and the officers returned to active duty. Something similar happened in New York(Where else), with a mentally ill naked guy up on some scaffolding a while back. In order to keep the guy from harming himself, the cops tazed him, he then naturally fell off the scaffolding to his death. |

Thursday, October 18, 2012 9:02:17 AM If that was in the US the rescuer and FD would soon be slapped with a major lawsuit. Shoot maybe even sue the window and rope manufacturers too! |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 10:06:06 PM I can see how this would have gone in America. "I can swing down there and kick him back into the building and we can stop him." "No, he might be injured in the act and sue us." "But we're protected from liability while acting to save someone's life..." "Doesn't matter. He'll be in jail with nothing to do but drag out the court process and we'll eventually have to settle for tens of thousands rather than pay hundreds of thousands to a lawyer." *Splat* "Well, not our fault." |
