Thursday, October 18, 2012 4:01:36 PM papajon I guess you missed the first freaking sentence: "I beg young people to travel"? He wasn't talking to old phuks like us with mortgages and kids and such... If I was young with no responsibilities, I would save up a grand or two in cash, put a plane ticket and a Eurail pass on a credit card and hit Europe for a couple months or as long as my money held out. Hostels are cheap, and you tend to meet some great people you would never otherwise get to know. It can be very educational and eye-opening, well worth the investment. We all could benefit from a little adventure! |

Thursday, October 18, 2012 9:11:03 AM As much as I want to travel the world, I don't have the money to do that and neither do my parents. So, unless somebody can give me enough money to do that, don't even think about. |

Thursday, October 18, 2012 6:33:48 AM Sure Henry... I'll just ignore my family and home and job and go spend the obvious thousands and thousands of dollars I have just lying around to go globetrotting 'just cuz!'. I do everything I am capable of doing to help and defend those who cannot do so themselves. This letter comes across as more typical elitist lefty I'm smarter than you snobbery; you can keep it. |

Thursday, October 18, 2012 5:40:55 AM @HiJamrock More than just AIDs here a concept if you're starving have to walk miles for water and live in a war zone perhaps you shouldn't breed! What a concept! How long has hollywood and the world been trying to help Africa? Seems to me the plan isn't working. @whodat6484 One of his home it begs the question how many does he have and where did he move after it sold? HE'S A LIAR YA A LIAR!! |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 11:09:36 PM Did this a number of times. Saudi Arabia was the biggest eye-opener for me. All you really need is enough money for a return trip, a backpack full of clothes, a sense of adventure and an open attitude. |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 9:21:05 PM Been saying this for years. I know not everyone can, but if you're able to, you should. The most xenophobic people I know (not just Americans, Europeans and others too) are those who haven't travelled. Many not even outside their own local area. It's a cliché, but it's true - travel broadens the mind, people. Also, @McGovern: "You know what else is stupid??? LIVING 12 MILES FROM THE ONLY SOURCE OF WATER!!!" Don't be a dick all your life. |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 7:52:03 PM @McGovern1981 - Well, if you still want to act like a complete & total douchebag about it, here are some more facts for you. In 2009 Henry Rollins listed his home for sale. It was a 2100 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house on less than 1/2 an acre in Los Angeles. In 2010, the median "ideal home size" in America was, guess what?! 2100 sq ft!!! That's about the size of the house I grew up in and it sure as hell wasn't a "mansion."

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 4:16:44 PM Rollins is so goddamn egotistical. "Yes, sir, I'll get right on that! Let me just grab a ticket to Tokyo with the extra $5000 I have stored away in my shoebox." |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 3:33:31 PM This is great, grand and terrific and all Mr. Rollins, but traveling costs money and I'm what people like to call cash poor. |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 2:39:59 PM @McGovern1981 - So you're criticizing Henry Rollins for travelling and suggesting others should too so they can see the world in a different way?! True, he can afford it and has the time do so, unlike most of us, but he also backs up his words with actions. Right around this time last year, he hosted a charity event and had all his friends in the music industry show up for an organization called "Drop In The Bucket" that helps bring clean water and sanitation services to schools in the war torn region of Africa between Southern Sudan and Northern Uganda. Yeah, sounds to me like he's a rich, out of touch Hollywood a$$hole. Do a little research before you open your mouth to talk sh*t abou |

Wednesday, October 17, 2012 2:22:52 PM @chalket Yes mother teresa I'm sure you've helped countless poor African children get food and water. Then proceeded to watch them get AIDs and join child armies....
I'm set with that. |
