Tuesday, October 16, 2012 12:25:41 PM Debate polls are some of the most useless polls. Almost always the respondents are a stratified sample, and random polls typically provide the most accurate results. CNN, which had Ryan winning, surveyed 381 registered voters who had participated in a previous CNN poll, watched the debate, and agreed to be interviewed. The CBS poll, which had Biden winning, was conducted using the GfK KnowledgePanel, a representative Internet panel, to interview 431 self-described "uncommitted" voters who watched the debate. Basically they may provide insight, but I doubt their actual authenticity. |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 10:30:32 AM "I think Biden did a pretty good job of refuting Ryan's assertions, but I can see why people would be turned off by his debate demeanor. That's just Joe Biden being Joe Biden." Probably. And I could be a bit biased. I was just so excited to see a little fight after that snoozer of a debate Obama gave. It will be interesting to see what happens tonight. |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 10:11:04 AM I think Biden did a pretty good job of refuting Ryan's assertions, but I can see why people would be turned off by his debate demeanor. That's just Joe Biden being Joe Biden. I will say this: it was the most entertaining debate I've seen since the days of Ross Perot/Admiral Stockdale. |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 10:01:16 AM Maybe the media was so shocked by a Democrat that had a pair that they didn't know what to do. |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 9:54:19 AM "CBS called it a win for Biden. Every other news source called it a win for Ryan." That is even worse. How can you win when you get backed into a corner so much and all your points are disputed, and when you are lying so blatantly that your opponent can't help but laugh? I mean how is that a win? It was a beat down by Biden Or was I watching the wrong debate? |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 9:47:50 AM CBS called it a win for Biden. Every other news source called it a win for Ryan. How is that a draw? |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 9:39:57 AM @markust: But seriously though, it seems like the media mostly just said both sides got what they wanted from the candidates. The Left were happy that someone fact-checked Ryan, and the Right were happy that Ryan stayed calm while Biden laughed and acted like a goofball. |

Tuesday, October 16, 2012 9:26:38 AM I was kind of shocked at the reaction from the news media about the debates. Everyone was calling it a draw when clearly Biden dominated. According to fact checkers Ryan told 24 lies in 40 minutes and Biden only let him get away with a couple of them. The only news source that clearly saw the results for what they were is not even a new show, The Daily Show called it for Biden last night. It wasn't even close. Jon summed it up best when he said that some things are best when viewed with the sound off, then showed the logos of Fox News, MSNBC and CNN. |
