Friday, October 12, 2012 9:50:29 PM It's not been a secret that soda is acidic, several demonstrations of that fact have been around since before I was born. There is also another reason why a mouse would never have 'fallen' into a can and that has to do with how the cans are processed and handled (within the machinery) before they are filled. The cans are also weighed after filling and any off-weight cans would be rejected. I agree that Pepsi Co. should seek fraud prosecution against this idiot, but in Madison County I doubt that will happen. |

Friday, October 12, 2012 9:02:02 PM Ronald Ball should get a very lengthy prison stay for fraud, extortion, and perjury. He should also be forced to drink the damned Mountain Dew, dead mouse and all. |

Friday, October 12, 2012 5:52:49 PM You know, it may still be possible he found a mouse in there, but first things first. The case was about a mouse, and this guy used a rat.. for all we know the mouse could be made up of the same thing the tail of this rat was. I doubt it would make any difference, but swapping a rat for a mouse when the topic was the mouse is just bad science. Next, i just wanted to say i was surprised as heck that the tail was still intact, i would like to see some research on as to why (if anyone has links). lastly, it may have been possible that there was a mouse in there. IDK the details of the case, like if they knew how long the can of pop was around for. But if the can had just been sealed, shipped, and it happened to get in his hand in a few days, his case would likely stand. With that being said, i didn't drink much pop before, but now i'm questioning if i should ddrink it ever again. |

Friday, October 12, 2012 3:58:53 PM so for some reason it is disturbing that soda is acidic? i bet this experiment would yield very similar results if you used any kind of fruit juice. i think some people just don't care to ever relate science to real life scenarios. |

Friday, October 12, 2012 2:08:29 PM @Jamie76 You'e totally missed the point. They have proved that the guy was lying as what he was saying was impossible and therefore there never was a mouse in the can at all. They weren't saying that having mice in their drinks is fine, they are proving there never was a mouse in their drink. |

Friday, October 12, 2012 12:23:25 PM holygod, tap water would have a very different effect. There would be a major bloating of the body tissue, not a dissolving. |

Friday, October 12, 2012 12:23:13 PM Pressurized Carbon Dioxide is acidic which is why you feel a burn in your mouth when you drink it fresh and not when its flat. Not exactly. Phosphoric acid is responsible for the "bite" in soda, not the carbonic acid. Also, when the temperature of the liquid increases, the activity of the acid also increases, so flat soda will still be quite acidic, even though most of the CO2 has converted to gas. |
