Saturday, October 06, 2012 6:49:01 PM lol, I'm sure she meant well with the advice. I'm not going there for history, I go for the party. I've been to Germany several times already (Neuschwanstein was beautiful) and can get all the history I need from the internet. Now I travel to meet people, see strange new things and party. I'm sure I'll get all that at the Halloween party at Frankenstein's Castle because even if it's cheesy it'll still have that German edge to it. |

Saturday, October 06, 2012 1:10:40 PM I wasn't trying to ruin her trip, I was just telling the truth from my experience. I always look for suggestions before I travel to other countries and such and try to give good advice. Like I said, it really depends what she wants to get out of the trip; pics for facebook or exploring and learning about history.

Saturday, October 06, 2012 9:46:58 AM @ Lauriloo: I've been to Burg Frankenstein a few times ( I live here in Germany). It's okay, nothing really to write home about. I wouldn't recommend the restaurant, the food is "meh". Actually, I like The Wartburg Castle (very historic) and of course, Neuschwanstein. And since you're in Darmstadt, the Palace of Heidelberg is not too far. Also, since you're going near Halloween, it's going to be packed and you're really not going to learn anything. I've found the best way to navigate these ruins/castles/landmarks is to find locals willing to tell you the history and give you a tour, as well as doing prior research. You may not be into that though. Some people like to learn and some people like to take pics, not sure what group you fall in to. |

Saturday, October 06, 2012 9:20:49 AM I can't wait for Halloween! I'll be spending that Saturday before in Darmstadt, Germany at Frankenstein's Castle. They have a big Halloween setup on the castle grounds with roaming monsters, stage shows, food, etc. This year's theme is Blackbeard's ghost so I'm dressing up as a pirate with a little steampunk flavor thrown in. Going to be so awesome!! |
