Saturday, October 06, 2012 9:03:31 PM I win lottery tickets ALL the time. Obviously the statistic refers to winning the big prizes. If all you're talking about is winning 2 dollars on a 1 dollar scratch ticket, your chances are pretty damn high. |

Saturday, October 06, 2012 1:35:03 PM Carmium "In Canada you get to keep all your money when you win! Another reason to live here." That, public healthcare, gay rights, lower crime, less religion. Seems nice. If it wasn't so cold.... |

Saturday, October 06, 2012 10:11:45 AM the odds of winning on the powerball lottery in the US are approx 1 in 32. So I think this person might be a little bit mistaken. |

Friday, October 05, 2012 10:19:55 PM Shhhhhhhh! The more the idiots play the lottery, the less I have to pay in taxes. If a bookie was caught skimming 55% of his handle, he be tarred and feathered and run out of town, and yet no one seems to have a problem with this if the bookie is the government. Even worse, if you win, they take back 40% of the prize in taxes leaving a net payout of 27% of the handle. Why would I play that game when there are casinos down the road with slots that pay out 97%? (I don't play those, either.) Lottery = stupidity tax. |

Friday, October 05, 2012 1:41:18 PM The majority of those who religiously play any of the state & nationwide lottery games already know the odds but that doesn't stop them. Nothing pisses me off more than being stuck in line behind some a$$hole who's dropping $50 on lotto tickets (giving the clerk their numbers one ticket at a time) when I'm at a gas station or bodega! |

Friday, October 05, 2012 1:06:52 PM Fun Fact: The odds of winning Powerball are 1 in 175,223,510. That means there are 175,223,510 different possible number combinations. The largest Powerball jackpot ever was $365 Million. That is 177,270,519 after taxes. So if you spent $175,223,510 buying every single possible combination you would have GUARANTEED yourself a profit of over $2 million dollars. ... Unless someone else hit too and you had to split it. |
