@Silverthread - One vague anecdote doesn't constitute a valid argument against legalisation, no matter how much it affected you personally. I've been toking for over 20 years (tho not very frequently these days), and the most regretable thing I've done under the influence is go shopping for groceries and buy way too much junk food.
And your Cartel point is also utterly void. The only reason the market is in the control of drug gangs is because it's illegal. If you legalised it, you'd take it out of the hands of criminals, place the market under proper legal controls, and redirect the profits to crop farmers and tax-paying businesses.
Personally, I couldn't really care less whether weed is legalised, but I get really fed up with the fact that all the arguments against it are total BS. The only reason it's still illegal is because governments & the media have twisted the issue with lies for so long, and don't want to admit it. |

How could this possibly be a bad thing? I mean, unless you are my buddy Pat who jumped out in front of a semi because he was coming down hard from a state of perpetually being high.
Or maybe you enjoy supporting drug cartels. Because, you know, 50,000 dead Mexican Citizens got to pay the price for your Goddamn High. |

As Pizzabits said.... even just a coupleof hoots, then the anxiety starts..usually over the fact that I have things to do and Im not doing them...so I start doing things...but then start stressing that Im doing it wrong because I'm stoned lol.
That and the fact that it gets just as abused by people as cigarettes or alcohol, not much difference IMO...I also thought it was tetra hydrochloride. |

if they would just legalize and tax it you can make an entirely new job market; a new revenue string and a bunch of taxes on personal use and growing, etc...
i would buy it b/c it would have to pass government standards to be sold over the counter; or my standards if i could do it on my property.

@Andrew155, whew, you sure do like to make sweeping statements! Some drugs are not harmful to humans, but not all by any means. (And nubblins, you're right.)
I've smoked pot for years (I'm 35 right now) and just last week someone asked me if I was 23 (sure made my day, let me tell you). BUT I don't (have never) smoked cigarettes... any women I went to high school with that smokes cigs looked more than ten years older than me ABOUT 10 YEARS AGO. I'd hate to see what state they're in now. Aah, but now that I think of it I don't drink a lot of alcohol... maybe that's done it to your friends? |

It shouldn't be illegal. The health of stoners isn't really worth a few dead cops.
If you really think that smoking marijuana habitually doesn't have an effect, you are quite dense. My stoner friends have become slower people, and their faces are older already. Drugs - smoking and alcohol included - make you look like $hit incredibly quickly. Funny. |

@skytz: It's a mixture of: public lack of knowledge concerning its effects, wilful misrepresentation of its effects, stifling of proper research, and capitalizing on fear and contempt for Mexicans and the Chinese. That and the typical people wanting more power.
As to why it's still illegal, it's partially because they don't want to look stupid for demonizing it for so many years, and also because they can use it to get votes. |
