Thursday, October 04, 2012 9:38:36 AM I know nothing about this woman beyond what I've seen here. I see a woman who received an inappropriate, trollish email: she's not there to be an example, she's there to deliver news. She decided to publicize it, which takes some guts, and did so in a way that showed both a lot of tolerance and a great deal of class. In doing so she became an excellent example for all! |

Thursday, October 04, 2012 7:28:35 AM Seriously, people need to leave other people the hell alone and mind their own business. The guy who wrote that email is a nosy do-gooder bully and should keep his own stupid thoughts to himself. You know who else is a bully who should mind their own crap? Michelle Obama and Michael Bloomberg. Keep your frickin' broccolli out of my chocolate cake and just go away! Leave people alone, for the love of Pete! |

Thursday, October 04, 2012 7:22:37 AM Maybe I am overly sensitive, and maybe she is, too, but I don't know why it's a problem to want to stand up for yourself. It's an issue that hits home for me, and like her, if I had someone question my character and job simply because I weigh too much, I would be highly offended as well. It's not about getting attention; it's about making a point. He doesn't know anything about her other than she's a TV personality; he took time out of his day to call her out on something she wasn't even doing! I highly doubt the woman got on TV and promoted an obese lifestyle every day instead of doing the news. She gave the news. Her weight is irrelevant, is her own issue, and should be left up to her to decide how and when she deals with her own issue. It's none of anybody's business, and it's not their place to tell her how to live her life. She seems to be a strong woman who stands up for what she believes; I don't see why she should be considered a bad example. Personality > appear |

Thursday, October 04, 2012 5:21:19 AM Penguinazul, you're just as bad as her. Most everyone here isn't saying that she should be out of sight until she loses weight. She is fat, that is obvious. The majority of people here are saying she is overly sensitive about it, which clearly you are too. Seeing as how he sent her a private email, she should have just shrugged it off and went about her day. But no, she had to make a big scene over it, all in an effort to get a bunch of "you go girl" comments from other fat chicks. Christ, if this was my news station I would have changed the channel because seriously, WHO GIVES A drat? |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 8:35:50 PM Oh and another thing because this is still fresh in my mind: Those of you who have a problem with obese people being on TV, do you feel like this woman should quit her job until she loses enough weight to be visibly acceptable to society? |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 7:42:20 PM WTF?!!! "Dear newscaster: Take better care of yourself. Girls look to you as a role model." [sarcasm]Yep. That was offensive...[/sarcasm] You have a job that TENS OF THOUSANDS of people can't f***ing land. Grow some goddamned self-esteem and go pump some iron already!! [sarcasm]It's not like that will add ten more years to your career and your life or anything.[/sarcasm] SHEESH!!! |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 7:14:59 PM As someone who is in the process of losing weight and who has been overweight her entire life, I feel for this woman. People want fat people to lose weight, but as long as they stay out of the public eye. How DARE you show your fat self in public? How DARE you put your fat self on TV, despite being otherwise perfectly qualified for your profession. How DARE you do anything besides hide in your house and diet until you're what society thinks is acceptable for viewing? drat you all. She can do whatever the hell she wants; weight shouldn't play a card in it at all. She's advocating being who you are despite what people say. She's never said that people should strive to be fat and that there was nothing wrong with being fat. She just thinks she ought to be able to do the weather on TV without someone bitching about it. It's none of your business why she's fat. Who cares? She's telling you the damn weather; what the hell does her weight have to do with it? N |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 2:14:23 PM hmn on the topic of fat males in media. Thats a valid point. Too many fat men these days. Very unhealthy. I wonder if guys subconscously accept it as the norm because of this too. I don't think many guys idolise those sorts of people but maybe they do. Then again maybe girls don't idolise these presenters like that either. I'd need girls opinions on this. oh also the camera adds 200 pounds. >_> |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 2:06:40 PM She is fat and she knows it. She doesn't want to change even though she is a reflection of what is acceptable. If she did want to change she wouldn't have changed the topic to 'I am more then just looks'. Yes she may have tried to lose weight and be sick of ppl saying to lose weight but that doesn't change the fact that she still does need to do just that. If not for the children who will grow up thinking that being fat is ok, then for herself. It is unhealthy. She won't tho. She's the sort to back up into a wall and blame others, then cry about it later by herself and eat a tub of ice-cream. It goes both ways though. I hate seeing skinny skeletor girls read the news. yuck. |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 7:51:00 AM If she would just put down the fork and go for a run than this wouldn't be a problem. She clearly doesn't understand the message he was trying to give to her. He wasn't trying to be mean, but thats all she sees. In her knee jerk reaction to this being "bullying" all I see as an actual outcome is her justifying not losing weight and not looking after her health. She is doing the opposite of the advise the guy was trying to give her. Now she can justify loving herself, as unhealthy of a lifestyle she has chosen. |

Telling someone who is in the public eye that they are not the best role model is not even remotely "bullying". True he didn't need to say it, and it's not like she's a 'huge' role model {pardon the pun} but the email was not vulgar, nor insulting in an unfactual way. But since when does reading the news make you a "role model". ? Role models are the ones we choose to model after, not every person on tv, just the ones you like. He's an incensitive jerk. She's an overly sensitive cow. |

Wednesday, October 03, 2012 5:21:09 AM awwww poor baby. did her feelings get hurt? that email was not bullying. He was addressing a issue he thinks is important. If he wrote "fatty pig fatty" over and over...that would be bullying. |
