Tuesday, October 02, 2012 9:20:24 PM @ OldOllie - I'm not a Gore fan but find something real to pick on. He's protected by the Secret Service and has no say-so in the cars they select nor when/where/how they park them. OldOllie, I get your point but protective service motorcades NEVER shut their engines off. The drivers also cannot leave or roll the windows down. If Gore SERIOUSLY believed that greenhouse gasses are causing global warming and destroying the planet, he'd STAY THE F*** AT HOME!!! This arrogant @$$hole burns through more carbon in a month flying around in his private Gulfstream jet spreading his global warming bull$#!+ than I will use in my entire lifetime, and yet he expects me to lower my standard of living? Well, I say f*** him. He can take his Smart Car, his Suburban, his two Town Cars, his Gulfstream jet, and his 10,000-square-foot home and shove them all straight up his @$$ along with his idiotic book, movie, and Powerpoint presentation. |

Tuesday, October 02, 2012 7:34:05 AM Smart Cars are currently made in Hambach, France. I don't buy anything mechanical from France because it will fail. |

Tuesday, October 02, 2012 4:29:00 AM @CapnKrawalla So he showed a picture of a crushed car that WASN'T a Smart car to try and show how unsafe a Smart car is? Oh that's rich that is. |

Tuesday, October 02, 2012 3:04:27 AM That is not a Smart between the two Trucks. Or it would be the first Smart which Rims has 4 Screws, a Smart only has 3!

Tuesday, October 02, 2012 12:04:21 AM Sadly in an accident your survivability is the same in both a smart car and a little tikes car. |

Monday, October 01, 2012 9:34:30 PM There is nothins "smart" about a SmartCar. Yeah there is. It's the arrogant liberal prick who thinks he's so much smarter than you and knows so much better than you what you should be driving to save the planet (and what kind of light bulbs you can buy, and where you should set your thermostat, and what you should be eating, and what kind of bags you can get at the grocery store, etc., etc., etc.) Of course, because HE'S so smart, and therefore indispensable, there's no way HE'S going to drive one of those tinfoil deathtraps. THIS is how liberal environmentalists -- you know, the ones who think that a SmartCar is a really good idea for YOU -- roll.
(Al Gore's motorcade: one Suburban and 2 Town Cars left idling with their air conditioners running while he was giving a speech on global warming.) |

Monday, October 01, 2012 7:13:29 PM Aww I want it! I've always really liked the smart cars, but whodat is kind of right, the smart got decent safety ratings of 4 and 5 stars for front and side impact. It basically has a roll cage, but and a big but if hit at high speeds by a more normal car the smart would go airborne and roll/spin a bunch basically throwing you around like clothes in a washing machine. |

Monday, October 01, 2012 7:11:24 PM I own one, similar to the depicted and I have driven it every day for the past four years. I can only say in my opinion it has saved my life twice by being small enough that I could maneuver out of the way of other vehicles that ended up being part of rather serious accidents. While a safe car in it's own right (strong steel cage, impressive crash test ratings in its class) I would suggest avoiding a crash is better than surviving a crash. Just my two cents. |

Monday, October 01, 2012 7:03:17 PM Ok, this is literally the only thing that can make this car acceptable. It's still remarkably fuel-inefficient for such a small car deemed "SMART," fricken only 38 highway, two seats, no trunk! |

Monday, October 01, 2012 6:19:52 PM Nailed it! I can fit one of those in the bed of the old '97 Chevy pickup I still have. I was bored one day and actually took measurements to see if it was possible. There's no way in hell I'd feel safe driving one of those unless everyone else on the road was too. You could probably total one of those "cars" rear-ending a shopping cart in the grocery store parking lot. |
