Tuesday, October 09, 2012 7:21:16 AM I watched a documentary with Rush and they were asked if their recording sessions and songs selection were different now that there is no "B" side. They stated " Absolutely",the "B" side of an album allows the listener to have a break, time to digest, enjoy, and analyze ( or for some, to roll another Fatty)what they have just heard, before continuing on. The "B" side was also usually the "experimental" stuff, although this stuff was also the music that made longtime lovers of bands.

Sunday, September 30, 2012 12:01:08 PM Vinyls were special, you took time in looking at the artwork, the smell, the slight hiss when the needle hits, wonderful |

Saturday, September 29, 2012 9:59:31 PM Gerry, I have no problem admitting that I am a Manilow fan and I'm not even gay. He is great and his music is still relevant. He's a legend. |

Saturday, September 29, 2012 9:32:15 PM My favorite non-music record is the Cheech & Chong album, "Big Bambu" from 1972. I have an original pressing with the giant rolling paper that came with it. It's not hard to find the LP but finding one with the rolling paper isn't easy. LOL! A friend of mine bought that album, and we used his paper to roll a giant doobie for a party. We all kicked in till we had about an ounce and a half, and it took 4 of us to roll it. There were at least 20-25 people at the party, and it pretty much lasted all night. |

Saturday, September 29, 2012 8:43:12 PM I've been collecting vinyl for the last 4 or 5 years. At home that's the ONLY way I listen to music and, except for seeing a band live, is the only way it should be listened to in my opinion. There's just something about taking an LP that's 40 or 50 years old out of the sleeve and it still looks shiny & brand new like it was pressed yesterday. You can keep all your digital sh*t, I'll take the wax any day. My favorite non-music record is the Cheech & Chong album, "Big Bambu" from 1972. I have an original pressing with the giant rolling paper that came with it. It's not hard to find the LP but finding one with the rolling paper isn't easy.

Saturday, September 29, 2012 8:02:50 PM There really is nothing like getting your vinyl and putting the disc on the turntable for the first time. Nice big art, personnel listing, maybe if you're lucky it's a gatefold and you get tons to look at after you burn one that you just rolled on it. And to listen to all tracks in order. I love being able to buy just the tracks I want and to listen any time, anywhere, but wax has a certain charm that can't be denied. |
