It's not fake, I've watched documentaries like this, they even get lava samples kinda like how Dan Aykroyd got the slime in ghostbusters II |

The size of the bits in the lava make this look fake. Not saying it is...but it looks like it. Sort of like when you see old films with the monster in the water and the splashing water looks WAY too big and you can tell it's a model in a bathtub. |
