I've got a friend who's a commercial photographer. One of his foci is photography of food for high-end restaurants. As a photographer, he takes at least one camera with him wherever he goes, and he often takes pictures of his own food. Occasionally, he'll post these pictures on his blog to maintain his persona as a food photographer. |

They may have never had food like this before either, and are sending pictures to family back home. Lots of possibilities with all of them doing it, but I don't think it's because of social media. |

They probably rate restaurants for a living. If this was for social media they'd use a smartphone and then put it sepia to completely defeat the point. |

In asia, most notably Thailand, taking photo's of food was common even before social networking sites. they have a keen interest in food.
So we can use the "It's a cultural thing" card on this one |

My first instinct is to say food bloggers or something. I was initially skeptical because they are all asian, but since there's no one posing with the food I come back to food bloggers. |
