it's called "neutral ground" by Mike Resnick, which appears in The Further Adventures of Batman : 14 All-New Adventures of The Caped Crusader (isbn 0553282700).
from 1989!
there is even a fanfilm.
man, I'm not a batman fanatic, I don't attend comicon or anything like that, sadly I have memories like this one stuck in my brain, clugging up precious brain RAM... |

very well done.
I've actually read this vignette in a short stories book, about 15 years ago.
the book though mentioned the riddler and his question marks on his suit.
gonna have to find it now... |
