Sunday, September 23, 2012 10:17:10 PM Lol, I went to high school with this kid....I am not gonna lie, he was one of the most annoying kids at school and I am no "jock". I am going to school to be an engineer (MSE at UMN) and this kid puts nerd to a whole new level. I was actually in a group that was going to design a new collapsible crutch for people and had to quit because I couldn't stand him...btw he also has 2 Guinness world records for KNEX....one was biggest KNEX ferris wheel and I forget the second....either way, he spends WAY too much time doing this stuff. |

Sunday, September 23, 2012 1:14:46 PM @ TheGuySmiley - He said it took 8 months to build this one. It has over 40,000 pieces and 450 feet of track. |

Sunday, September 23, 2012 7:05:16 AM It must have taken such a long time to build that. But it's certainly impressive! |

Saturday, September 22, 2012 10:48:25 PM @ davymid - I thought it was cool. I'm a girl and it got me to go over to his house, so... He was a cute (and nice) dude - I don't think he has any problems getting a date. ;) |

Saturday, September 22, 2012 10:35:10 PM I was actually at this dudes house today (he had an open house so people could come look at it if they wanted). @briandarf - I didn't see any cats (other than the paper ceiling cat in his room) but they did have a very nice dog. @DFWBrysco - His room is actually much, much smaller than it appears in the video and since there are areas where the balls briefly disappear from view and then reappear elsewhere it can be hard to track a single ball on it's route. I hung out long enough to see one of the light up balls make a full circuit though - the tracks aren't isolated. Also, you have to duck when the overhead crane passes back and forth. ;) It was pretty awesome to see in person though! |

Saturday, September 22, 2012 10:14:57 PM Truly an incredible architectural feat, considering the building materials are considered "children's toys." However, the video takes away from it's awesomeness. The architect (and videographer) don't take the time to show a single ball moving through the entire track from one end to the other, but instead show a bunch of shots of different balls in various places of the track. This leaves the feeling of disjointedness - for all the viewer knows, this could be several independent, completely isolated tracks twisted all around each other with their own balls. While still impressive, this still would not equal to or exude the Herculean awesomeness of one huge track. Redo the video and lets chat again. |
