I would have zero outrage if this was being done to "target" conservative voters. Firstly, I don't care about them much, secondly, I don't think they'd be victims. I think they'd be smart and competent enough to get the free ID. Or they would already be among the people who can drive, drink, go to the bank, fly, and a $hit ton of other things in modern society. In the slim chance that they aren't, they can get the free ID. No more hassle than registering to vote itself.

Zero things are stopping people from getting a free ID. My main problem with this debate is it being labeled racist. That is so dumb. I mean, for real. People must really think black people are dumb and inferior if they think that black people are just totally and woefully incapable of getting a free ID when they register to vote.

Well then don't wait for the state to do it for you, go do it yourself. Don't let THE MAN keep you down.

My state Washington is 100% vote by mail. Ballots are certified by our signatures. Zero people show ID. You can imagine the outrage from the right when this law was implemented last year. Yes the outrage. What, there wasn't any? Huh, that's odd.

"Good thing they have white liberals to manufacture this defense."

The only thing being manufactured are the false claims of voter fraud. These bills are being rushed through to stop people who would vote for Obama. You guys would be going out of your minds if something like this was being rushed through to stop conservative votes. It is my right to vote!, you would scream. But since it is not happening to your "side" it is fine. Way to sh*t on the constitution you f*cking hypocrites.

"Without an ID what's stopping somebody from showing up at my polling place, saying they are me and voting in my stead?"

Your signature that you wrote when you registered. You have to sign again to vote.

“Voter ID — which is going to allow Governor Romney to win the state of Pennsylvania — done,” Pennsylvania House Majority Leader Mike Turzai (R)

It's pretty clear in this dumb ass statement the intentions. Especially when the people pushing for the law could not prove that voter fraud exists. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court stated that the law could well be constitutional in the long run but could disenfranchise voters in the coming election. The case is back in the lower courts hands where they have to prove whether the state would be able to provide IDs in time for the Nov election for all eligible voters who want them. That ruling will be Oct 2nd. "David Gersch, a Washington lawyer who is helping to represent individuals and groups challenging the law, said they will be able to show considerable confusion and delay in the state’s efforts to provide the IDs."

So black people, etc don't drive, drink, and fly? Ironically, I needed my Driver's license of register to vote!

And young people?? With no ID? Have you been to a college campus? Everyone is getting wasted. And I live in Harlem. Believe it or not, people still get wasted here too!

It almost seems as if it should be condescending to black people and immigrants, etc. As if they're too incompetent to get something that would otherwise be free, so they're being discriminated against. Good thing they have white liberals to manufacture this defense.

What a bunch of crap. Be an adult. Get yourself an ID. Problem solved. How the F do you go through life as an adult without ID? Bank much? Try and rent a car, get on a plane? Get booze? Cash that welfare check?

Without an ID what's stopping somebody from showing up at my polling place, saying they are me and voting in my stead?

Well Markust. None of that occurs with the Voter ID law, so try again my friend. Anyone can get an ID. Anyone (with the legal right to vote).

"I know that Florida, Pennsylvania, and Maryland charge for IDs."

Negative. If you call the voter registration office, they will bring you 1 free voter ID card. That's obviously all you can use it for, but it's free, and you don't even have to leave your house!

"Disfranchisement (also called disenfranchisement) is the revocation of the right of suffrage (the right to vote) of a person or group of people, or rendering a person's vote less effective, or ineffective. Disfranchisement may occur explicitly through law, or implicitly by intimidation or by placing unreasonable requirements."

This is stupid. Made it 4 seconds in.

Hey Black people, old people, Immigrants!

You're too stupid to go get a FREE ID TO VOTE! So we are gonna block that law.

In Ohio, Republicans have requested 18,000 absentee ballots. Democrats have requested 100,000. Just sayin'.
