@cookieboy
>How do they: rent apartments,
no photo id needed
>buy houses,
no photo id needed
>apply for loans and credit cards?
No photo id needed
>How do they drive cars,
most poor people don't, but you dont need an id to drive, you need a license, which just happens to be an id.
>carry insurance,
no photo id needed
>write checks,
no photo id needed
>see a doctor or dentist,
no photo id needed

This is getting repetitive. Instead of answering each separately, I'll just say, none of the example you listed require a photo id

So, who are these mysteriously ID-less Americans? And who are the bad people who prevent them from having identification? How do these poor folk live? How do they rent apartments, buy houses, apply for loans and credit cards? How do they drive cars, carry insurance, write checks, see a doctor or dentist, get public utilities like gas, electricity and water? What do they show when a cop stops them for speeding? How did they get their job, or perhaps, how did they obtain their welfare benefits and food stamps? How did they go to school, and how were they able to register their children at school? How can they use a credit card? How the hell did they get a credit card, anyway? How do they buy their booze and smokes? How can they get their social security or medicare?
I live in California, where it costs $24.00 for a state identification card, and it's free if you are over 62. So, disenfranchised would-be voter, pull the other one.

@hi,

So we are making progress. Point A has been set, an photo ID is not always required to purchase alcohol. Point B, will be slightly harder to prove, as 1. I am not a lawyer, and 2. google is overflowing with links about voter ID laws.

So instead I will tell you a little story. Way back in 2002, I went to Rhode Island for university. It was a cooking school, and I really enjoyed it. Two things stood out. First we were allowed to drink during class. State law allowed for alcohol to be served for educational purposes. Secondly the bartending teacher taught us all about checking for IDs. one of the most important lessons was when to turn someone away, and how to protect our own asses if we wanted to serve someone without a photo ID present.

You are almost correct about needing an ID for getting a job. But there are a few acceptable means of identifying yourself without an ID. you can use your voter registration card, indians can use their tribal documentat

Also, you probably never had a job, cause you'll know that you need a valid ID for that as well. Unless you're getting paid under the table of course.

Oh, if you're poor, then you need ID for welfare and/or food stamps.

If you're a student, you need ID to sign up for school.

Have you ever left your small town in Virginia before?

If the proprietor of an establishment knows that a person is over 21, the person buying obviously doesn't have to show ID, just like everywhere else in the world.
So lets try this again...

But if said proprietor doesn't know if a person is over 21 or not and doesn't want to get fined up to $10,000 by the government and possibly lose their license, then the person buying the liquor has to show valid ID if asked.

No where does it say that all you have to do is sign an affidavit ledger where basically they're going by "the honor system" and all you have to do is put down your name and address, where you can obviously put down false information, and you can then purchase liquor.

So to wrap it up... If the proprietor doesn't know you and also doesn't want to possibly get fined, then you need valid ID. If they do know you, or think without a doubt that you're over 21, then you don't need ID... Just like everywhere else.

@Hi-Haole

You are changing your argument. YOU said an photo ID was required to purchase Alcohol. I said it was not. I was correct. Penalties for selling to underage persons is a completely different matter. So let us try this again. Hi-Haole, is an photo ID required for the purchase of alcohol in the state of Virginia?

It's not required if you already know that they are 21 or over...

Damn... You really are an ignoramus... I didn't really want to think it was true...

“Underage buyers use only their true state-issued ID to purchase alcohol or tobacco,” Mawyer said. “If the underage buyer is asked for their ID, they must show it. And if asked their age, they must be truthful and state it.”

Selling alcohol to a minor is a Class 1 misdemeanor. Class 1 misdemeanors are punishable with up to a year in jail and a $2,500 fine.

Stores that violate the law also face civil penalties and can have their ABC license suspended. The penalties can be stiff: A Henrico County convenience store that sold to an underage buyer was fined $10,000, and a cafe in Centreville, in Northern Virginia, was fined $8,000, according to ABC’s data. Both retailers were repeat offenders.

>Are you required to have an ID to purchase alcoholic beverages?
>No; however, alcoholic beverages may not be sold to persons under 21.

Not going to bother to list all 50 states. But trust me, in the majority of them, no photo ID is required.

I've been to "most" of the states in this union and I have NEVER even heard of that...

Maybe they do that in the backwoods town you live in because everyone knows each other, but that is not how it works in the real world...

You're basically saying that, anywhere in your state you can be under 21 but all you have to do is put down a fake name and address and you can buy alcohol? That's the same premise with voter fraud...

Damn you're dumb dumb...

@HI-hat

I do not have a basic ID for the purchasing of Alcohol, because an ID is not required for the purchasing of Alcohol. Depending on the state there is always an ID-less option. Most allow for an Affidavit ledger, where you sign with your name and address an agreement stating that you are of legal age to purchase Alcohol.

Maaan she is dumb and a sheep following what someone else told her was right...

Who doesn't have a basic ID so you can buy beer or whatever... Those ID's that she showed shows no real proof of identification... Anyone can make a fake one of those to commit voter fraud or to buy liquor if they were legit forms of acceptable identification...

Btw.. the reason why they accept the firearm permits is because they have a really strict background check to get one, the equivalent of a passport...

'this administration will not guarantee that our soldiers abroad be allowed to vote in a timely manner so their votes will count.

Someone already tried this claim earlier in the thread, and I busted it. But here is the link again: LINK

Actually pretty much none of those require an ID. I will give you "driving a car" but only because it requires a license which happens to be an ID.

Could Sarah Silverman be a little more stupid? See,'cause I haven't had a good laugh in a bit of a while. How many ordinary human acts require ID? Let me list them. Driving a car. Buying smokes. Buying booze. Renting an apartment. Getting a loan. Buying a house. Registering your kid in school. Getting your teeth fixed. Seeing a doctor. Getting welfare. Getting food stamps. Getting a "payday" loan. Getting a passport to get the freak out of the country. Oh yeah, and you say you want a job? Okay then, where's your ID? So, Sarah, and all your dumbass cohorts: what the heck is your major malfunction?

FoolsPrussia: Then work towards finding those rare cases of citizens without IDs, but quit using that as an excuse to cover-up voter fraud.

What kills me is the hypocrisy of democrats decrying the plight of ID-less voters, but this administration will not guarantee that our soldiers abroad be allowed to vote in a timely manner so their votes will count.

Talk about disenfranchisement, the claim that 'granny' won't be allowed to vote is just pathetically weak compared to sweeping or soldiers votes under the rug.

'I believe the excuses, that 'granny', or any other legal citizen, may not have ID are ridiculous.

The point is that all the examples you provided are not always the case. Your situation is not the same as everyone else's.

What a nasty stupid twat. If you can't get your $#!+ together enough to get a picture ID, I don't give a dry fap who you think ought to win the election.

And if you don't think voter fraud is real, consider this. In Minnesota, the number of felons who voted illegally was greater than Al Franken's margin of victory, and a poll showed that 90% of them voted for Franken. Had it not been for their votes, Franken would have lost, the Democrats would have only had 59 votes in the Senate instead of 60, and ObamaCare could not have passed.

It matters.

FoolsPrussia: Since I myself was in a nursing home facility recovering from a hospital stay. I can affirm that people can and do aid seniors in voting. Those same people even asked me if I was going to vote and if I wanted help to be registered to vote. Not only that but churches, synagogues, temples and other civic organizations even offer free transportation to and from the polls.

Even in your stated case, 'granny' would have to have some form of ID to cash her SS check, open a bank account (for direct deposit of her SS check), write a check to pay for her groceries, be admitted to a hospital, buy liquor, apply for food stamps, buy Sudafed, to return an item at a store or even buy Draino, in the state of Illinois (my state).

I believe the excuses, that 'granny', or any other legal citizen, may not have ID are ridiculous.

Can still mail in your ballets in all these states. Without an ID. Doesn't that make the whole thing pointless?

I don't know about other states, but in PA an state issued photo ID obtained for voting purposes is FREE.

So if you're a resident of Pennsylvania and if you really want to waste your time pretending your vote counts during the presidential election you can better understand your free ID here and then fill out and print this form then bring it to your local DMV.

It costs money to get a state issued I.D.. You need a state issued I.D. to vote. Therefore, it costs money to vote.
