"markust how do you do that? You take a perfectly clear question and turn it around in your own mind so it seems "oddly worded.""

You should actually be asking yourself that since the original question you misquoted had no resemblance to the actual question.

markust how do you do that? You take a perfectly clear question and turn it around in your own mind so it seems "oddly worded." Letterman asked about the debt clock and Obama goes off on a explanation about the deficit and ten seconds later it's about wars fought on credit cards and tax breaks and saving the auto industry. (which DC still holds crappy GM stock that they can't afford to sell without looking the fool.)

Xerasia: I have no doubts that Obama's cronies can make that possible for you, like they did in 2008.

HG: There is much more than one factor that shows Obama is a SCOAMF. 46.7 million people on food stamps (a record number), 67 million underemployed (another record), Housing starts at the lowest level since the 1970s, 1st ambassador to die while on duty since 1979, 63.7% Labor force participation rate (a 30-year low), $16,000,000,000,000 in National Debt, 7 Months since Obama last met with his own jobs council, Real median household income has decreased by more than 4000 dollars, The average price per gallon of gas has doubled to over $3.80, the number of long-term unemployed Americans has risen from 2.7 million to 5.2 million, US home values have fallen by 12 percent, US debt was downgraded from AAA status for the first time ever and the Velocity of money (known as M2V) has plunged to a post-World War II low.

I can go on and on and on with more, but I believe this list more than state the case that Obama is a failure.

To be fair to Reagan and to Obama @HolyGod (as we have both explained many times) the first 9 months of a presidency are affected by the last Presidents fiscal budget. I think it is fair to say unemployment falls into this also.

You're the one being dishonest DromEd. The question Obama was asked is not what you are stating. And if you are referring to how he would have answered the actual question Letterman asked you must be some kind of super hero to be able to tell what was going through Obama's mind before he answered the question. What he did was skirt around the question so he could give a long winded explanation about the debt. That is what every politician does. They answer the questions on their own terms. It is not dishonest just frustrating if you want a direct answer to an oddly worded question such as this.

Can we admit that in every category EXCEPT months above 8% Obama is doing a better job? Aren't all of the factors I listed important? Don't you find it to latch on to ONE factor that looks the best for your side and only use that one?

Obama had no time in office before unemployment hit 8%. It was happening when he came in. Reagan had 9 whole months before unemployment hit 8%. It happened under him. Reagan also had way higher unemployment for way longer. Unemployment trended up under Reagan for twice as long as it did under Obama. Isn't that important?

The only numbers I ever see that say Obama is doing a bad job is the deficit and unemployment.

Let's look at unemployment compared to Reagan. This data is all pulled directly from the Bureau of Labor Statistics.

Reagan:
Months in office before unemployment hit 8%: 9
Months with unemployment above 8%: 27
Peaked unemployment: 10.8
Months where Unemployment trended up: 20
Months with unemployment above 10%: 10

Obama:
Months in office before unemployment hit 8%: 0
Months with unemployment above 8%: 43
Peaked unemployment: 10
Months where Unemployment trended up: 9
Months with unemployment above 10%: 1

Enter the years for yourself

"many of us are tired of weak minded buffoons looking for a handout"

Estimation on Government spending (Federal, State, and Local) is 6.3 Trillion. Of that, .7 is assistance. So take that away and have 5.6 Trillion in Government spending with NO welfare programs whatsoever.

314 Million people in the U.S. That means if everyone paid their way equally each person in the country would pay roughly $17,800 in taxes a year with NO assistance programs.

Do you pay that much in taxes? It is your share. My guess is you don't. Most people don't. So that means you are getting a handout.

Or, if I don't vote and the Neocons get another chance at an aggressive foreign policy which leads us to invade some European nation just because (I'm *still* lookin' at you Belgium) I...sit back and smile smugly?

Mac, growing up, my grandaddy always used to say to me, "If you don't vote, then you have no right to b*tch about the way things are."

By the same token, if you *do* decide to vote this year, next time an American gets killed in an unnecessary war you didn't vote for, don't agree with, but did elect the President that cared f*ck all about your opinions and lied to you to get your vote, don't even think about moaning - because it'll be your fault he's in office.

Wow markust, you're in steep competition with madest for forum Obama homer. Any normal person when asked that question would have answered about 16 trillion dollars. He of course knows this but couldn't bring himself to say it. That's dishonesty.

MacGuffin: Is right, Obama has lied and people have died. The latest victim is Ambassador Chris Stevens and those protecting him. Only a masochist would vote for Obama. And soon, Six million, mostly middle income, Americans will pay the health care tax rather than obtain coverage under President Obama’s health care law. By 2016 that penalty will be nearly $700 per person.

"Like last night on Letterman when asked what the national debt was and he said he didn't know."

So you answer a comment about Obama's honesty with a lie. Doesn't say a lot about you. Letterman was talking about the debt clock at the RNC. The question was, "Do you remember what that number was?" which Obama answered, "I don't know what the number was precisely". Here's the full episode. If you think that President Obama doesn't know what the debt and deficit currently is you are delusional.

False. If I pay taxes, I can b*tch all I want. If they stopped taking any taxes from me, then I'd zip my lip. I do vote, though. Just sayin'.

THEN VOTE FOR ME!!! The Seals are in place and will secure our #1 source of oil.....

After Canukistan is secure our #2 oil provider will be delt with by taking all illegal imigrant Mexicans and have them tunnel back deep into Mexico! From this tunnel we built caves and put oil wells in the caves! Then when the illegals want to come back they'll bring back the oil for a green card!!

Hope for change if you're a busker. I support this message!

All politicians lie MacGuffin. I don't know what kind of partisan sites you get your "facts" from but for a President his honesty has been actually really good.

I'm also gonna channel Rumsfeld here and invert his most famous proverb, "Sometimes you have to work with the president you have, not the president you want."

This year I'm gonna tailgate this election like crazy, even more so than in '08. I mean the full 9 yards, nachos and 7 layer dip, big blue foam fingers and drink caps, as I watch the returns come in.

And I'm definitely gonna vote, count on it.

There's an easy way to save Social Security. One, have an opt-out like Madest said. And anyone who opts-out can get right back in if things turn for them. I bet many rich Americans would opt-out. Two, raise the cutoff of paycheck deductions for SS to $120K. Three, put the money back into it's own untouchable area. We're really only screwed because the money was pulled into the general fund.
