were you on here complaining so much about it when it was Bush racking up the national debt?

Actually, the debt didn't explode till the Democrats took over congress in 2007. The last budget passed by a Republican congress had a deficit of $248.2 billion, or about 1/6 that of Obama's deficits.

Yes, Bush was a complete wimp. All he wanted to do was "get along." When the Democrat congress under Pelosi and Reid started exploding the deficit, he should have vetoed their damned budget and told them to shove it up their asses, but he didn't, and now everything has turned to $#!+.

I was wrong about Mitt Romney's comments killing his chances for election. I really thought he was done. But the Gallup Poll results from yesterday puts him in a tie with Obama.

Wow, your first comment? I feel honored.

Yes it was old. But the number is basically the same as what crakr posted. I was posting for Bush's number, not Obama's.

My point was that it isn't like Obama added all those recipients himself, a whole lot were there when he came in.

HolyGod: "According to factcheck.org MORE people were added to food stamps under Bush than Obama, and we weren't even in the recession then."

I feel like you look at a statistic and determine how it supports your case. Did you read this was posted in January. And it compares the 8 years of Bush to the 3 yrs Obama had at the time. It even states that the January information COULD put Obama over.

CrakrJak isn't right in everything (about 50%), but you really need to evaluate your own comments before pointing out "How incredibly wrong" someone is.

First rule of statistics is that you can make them say anything you want.

Crakr the link the referenced post is at the end.

Here is what you quoted the first amendment as saying.

"Congress shall make no law establishing religion or abridging the free expression thereof...".

Here is what it actually says.

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech"

You changed the wording to try and give your argument that churches have protection of speech when it comes to politics some foundation where there is none. Liars have a hard time keeping track of their lies. Now that I have proven your dishonesty I expect my apology from you forthwith.

In my opinion freedom of religion also means the freedom to choose no religion.

But mostly, props on the word calumny. It is pretty rare that I have to look up a word.

And once again you completely ignored my Obama / Reagan unemployment stats. I thought they were kind of interesting. I'm too young to have remembered that particular recession.

"as well as borrowed money"

I have a problem with that. It is an absolutely legitimate complaint. But I have to ask you in all honesty, were you on here complaining so much about it when it was Bush racking up the national debt?

"Mortgage Starts Data"
What am I missing? Your own chart shows 21.5% total increase year over year and significant increases over the bottom in 2009. Just look at the chart. It has up trended since 2009.

"CNN"
Holy S.hit. Did you even LOOK at the chart? The two biggest groups of people not in the labor force were 65+ and 16-24. SO you are slamming Obama because retirees, high school kids, and college students aren't working?

"their figures were dated 9 months ago"
I knew the stats were old, but they were only slightly lower than what you said. I was mostly talking about the Bush number.

I feel like we one of us is crazy. Your own links prove you wrong.

Otto: I did no such thing, that's slander and calumny.

All I said was that the constitution guarantees freedom OF religion, not freedom FROM religion. Just because you don't like that fact doesn't mean you have to lie about it and slander me.

HG: As you can see I can backup my facts with links, you don't even provide links. In fact you cherry pick old reports to make Obama seem better than he is.

Don't accuse others of making sh|t up when you yourself, cherry pick and don't even provide links to the data you cite. That's called being a hypocrite.

HG: Factcheck.org is a known partisan site, and after looking it up, their figures were dated 9 months ago (in January). More people have been added to the food stamp rolls, since then, and indeed there have been more under Obama in 3 1/2 years, than under the entire 8 years of GW.

HG: "I'm just reciting verifiable facts here."

You're reciting Obama talking points, not facts.

Mortgage Starts Data Click "All Data" and you will see that the total starts are well below 1970 stats.

CNN says the number of unemployed is 86 million, which is higher than I had read before. Add to that the 27 million that are working but only part time and it's even worse.

HG, how's this for an argument.

A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship. The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years.

It would appear we're living on borrowed time as well as borrowed money.

"If Obama wins, this country will end up on the ash heap of history"

I have been actively commenting on this site for over a year now. I have tried to engage you several times. I can't think of a single time where you have added a fact, or a link, or a legitimate argument.

All you seem to do is make crotchety old man statements, spoken in absolutes or insults, with no factual backing whatsoever. You really add nothing to the conversation.

There is nothing wrong with discourse. I often disagree with 5Cats, MeGrendel, and CrakrJak, however I appreciate that they attempt to site stats or sources to backup their argument. Try it some time.

I don't even want to live in a country in which the majority are on the right side of that chart. The problem is, this is/was the last place left on earth where that isn't/wasn't the case.

If Obama wins, this country will end up on the ash heap of history.

Don't bother with Crakr. He once copy and pasted the First Amendment and then took out individual words and swapped phrases to completely change the meaning and put quotes around it. When I called him on being dishonest he said 'that is what the founders REALLY meant'. He has no interest in honest debate.

@HolyGod: Well, if CrakrJak's political commentary is anything like his global warming commentary, I don't think there's a ghost of a chance that he'll ever admit error or stop repeating falsehoods.

The best I can figure it is that he's employing the modus operandi of the propagandist, where a lie repeated often enough without contradiction will come to be perceived as the truth by many.

I'm just reciting verifiable facts here. I have no opinion. But how can you be so wrong? Are you just taking your information from conservative blogs without ever checking the facts for yourself?

I can't go any further right now. Do you feel bad when you are SO wrong? I mean saying housing starts are the LOWEST SINCE 1970 when they are the HIGHEST SINCE THE HOUSING COLAPSE. OR saying underemployment is 8 TIMES HIGHER THAN IT REALLY IS?

I'm looking through your stats and it is kind of shocking how consistently wrong you are.

According to factcheck.org MORE people were added to food stamps under Bush than Obama, and we weren't even in the recession then.

67 Million are underemployed? Where did you get that number? The US Labor Department has the number at 8.2 Million which is DOWN since 2009. How are you 8 times higher than the real number?

Housing starts are way up right now. August 2012 saw 746,000 housing starts. When Obama took office the number was 490,000 according to the Department of Commerce.

Home resales are their highest rate in 2 years according to the National Association of Realtors.

"Lovey, I can't *buh-leeeve* we're stuck on this island with no gin & tonics at hand and nary a dressage horse in sight. What *arrrre* we going to do?!"

DromEd: To be completely honest GM wants to buy back all of it's remaining stock from the government, The Obama administration won't let that happen. They want to retain some control over them and force them to keep making cars like the Chevy Volt, that they are loosing $49,000 per car on.
