You're saying every rule in the bible is a "commandment"? Fine. Then having to marry your rape victim and not wearing cloth of mixed fabric are commandments too.

FYI: if you meditate on the 10 commandments, you can find extremely deep wisdom covering all the things you mentioned. Also, the 10 commandments can be read like "Love God with all of your heart, mind soul and strength", (the first 5), and "Love your neighbour as you love yourself" (the second 5). Jesus said "Do this and you will live." He's right, so love one another as he commanded and there'll be nothing to fear. |

The ten commandments are such a silly set or rules especially when you take into consideration the things that aren't on the list like Rape, Child Molestation, Assault, Arson, and others. |

Since most people (including most Christians) don't seem to know what the 10 commandment are:
1. Don't worship other Gods
2. Do not make idols
3. Don't take the Lord's name in vain
4. Keep the sabbath holy
5. Honor your mother and father
6. Don't Murder
7. Don't commit adultery
8. Don't steal
9. Don't lie
10. Don't covet (desire)
1,2,3, and 4 are retarded and pointless. Things a jealous, ego-maniacal, self centered man would say. I can't imagine an omnipotent entity being so petty.
5,7, and 9 are good rules to live your life by, but certainly not rules. Definitely not top 10.
6 and 8 are really the only legitimate rules to live by.
10 is silly. I see nothing wrong with desiring other people's possessions as long as you don't steal them. It is good to have goals and be ambitious.

I'm not saying I want you to judge me. I'm asking if you believe that is God's judgement. Everyone interprets the Bible differently. Many believe that if you don't accept Jesus Christ as your lord and savior the punishment is eternal damnation. I'm asking if that is your belief. |

Landmark day - for once I actually completely agree with 5Cat. "Do unto others..." (or whichever variation on the wording you prefer) is the only moral rule you really need. The rest of the biblical Ten Commandments are either unnecessary extrapolations on that (neighbours, killing, etc.), or just religious dogma.
And HolyGod - you're just trolling 5Cats because you're used to targeting him. There was absolutely nothing questionable in what he said. |
