There's a big difference between "being afraid of, or having fear of" and "dislike, disgust, and avoidance." As soon as somebody expresses distaste for the gay, they're immediately labeled as "homophobic."
Following this path of logic, we, the people who do not like the gays, will take the same path from now on.
So I hear you don't like pizza, you are a pizzaphobic!
So you chose to be the gay, and you have a distaste for females. You're afraid of women, obviously. Your nightmares are full of boobs and vaginas.

@Andrew155 - You can't just up and change the definition of a word or "divorce" it from it's meaning. It means "fear of" and more accurately, "an extreme or irrational fear of." If you can successfully get the definition of the word "phobia" changed and recognized worldwide then I'll stop arguing about it.

Sure there are other factors but I still stand behind my assertion that people who are afraid of something are afraid because they have no experience with it or have a misunderstanding about it. As for Osama Bin Laden. I don't think he was really that into the "cause". I think he primarily wanted power over people and the easiest way to do that was to manipulate the poor and uneducated people who were thirsty for someone to blame for their problems. He fed their hate to get them to kill people. Isn't that how most problems against a group of people start? Find someone else to blame and hate. A delusion that getting rid of the "other" will make all their problems go away. |

You guys debating the term "homophobia" are really pettifogging. Besides, though the root is "fear of", it has long become divorced from that root meaning and has an entirely different connotation. So, as I said, you are pettifoggers.

I always dislike it when people say only poor, uneducated who have never traveled are bigots. Simply not true. First thing that comes to mind is Osama Bin Laden. Or how about most other high-level terrorists. Or how about the greater portion of Japanese people. If they were white, they would be universally called the most racist nation by most. Other factors determine "racism". |
